I heard a spokeswoman for Tesco's the other day praising people for their ingenuity in in squeezing money out of their system , but they were going to introduce some resrictions. On further investigation it could be quite profitable. There is a big discussion on Money saving expert here

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3134600&highlight=tesco

Basically if there you buy something from Tesco that is cheaper at Asda then they send you a voucher for double the difference. This is especially profitable when Asda has special offers on or if Tesco has inflated there prices to make '2 for' offers more attractive. As there are price comparison websites out there the research is relatively easy to do. To save even that effort there is a spreadsheet at

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AtnLrgx2Ta53dExHWGktSy1mSF85dFAwU2g4U1BlRnc&hl=en_GB&authkey=CNvCx4wJ#gid=0

that lists all the best current opportunities.

My favourite is the 3 packs of Magnums

£2 at Tesco, £1 at Asda so Double The Difference is £2

You pay £2 and get the Magnums and a voucher for £2. T
There are even some items that you effectively get paid to take away.

I've just tried it for the first time so I'll see if it works.

Been reading that myself.
I can't ifnd that link now, but they have drastically reduced how much you can claim.
I think it was £100 in a set period and is now £20
Still great though :D

Did you see the cock up from yesterday?
Some muppet at tesco put the deal into the central computer the wrong way round
Instead of buy 2 get £4 off, it came up as buy 2 for £4
Can't knock 24 cans of lager for £4 8-)

Even better at an Asda they were selling petrol at 12.9p a litre after someone put the decimal point in the wrong place.

Results now in

Two shops of just under £20 each, received two vouchers totalling £33 today.

Net cost of weeks shopping less than £3.

Works online as well I believe.

OK, so I go to Tesco's and get my Olay Anti'Age Wrinkle creams, and get mega vouchers for Tesco's - then take the cream back?

No, afraid not, from the T& C's

Returns

27. Where an item on a receipt is returned, Tesco reserves the right to invalidate the whole receipt for the purposes of Price Check or where a Price Check voucher has already been obtained, invalidate the voucher.
28. Where an item on a receipt is returned and a Price Check voucher has already been redeemed in relation to this receipt, any refund offered for the item may be offered net of the Price Check voucher's value.
29. Where an item is purchased using a Price Check voucher and the item is subsequently returned, any refund will be offered by way of a Tesco money card only.

Anyway surely anti-wrinkle cream is an essential item for us all :)

The moneysavingexpert forum has got so big, over 30,000 posts that they have to keep opening new threads. The current one is at

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3153752

the spreadsheet is updated daily and keeps moving location but up to date info is on the first page of the forum by scrooling down.
current location is
https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?hl=en_GB&hl=en_GB&key=0AlTY5zCarucZdGtYS29pVEZQTV9sZGgtbWRsejRGLXc&output=html

but it will probably change again soon.

This weeks highlights include 4 cans of Guinness for a net 71p, Thorntons Easter eggs for free and you now get paid 29p for taking the Magnums off their hands.

Pardon my stupidity, but how do I do this? I imagine the checkout assistants aren't just handing out £2 vouchers when you buy a pack of Magnums?

I bought Bombay Saphire (1ltr) Leffe, & a bottle Wolf Blass for £37.00
Would have been £12.00 cheaper in Asda, next day voucher for £24 was ready to print 8-)
use this for quick check.

Just did it for the first time
You check out the links above. It's all explained on the first post
You do a shop as normal, obviously using the list you have prepared of things you know are more expensive than asda ;)
When you get home you go to the tesco website and input some numbers at the bottom of your receipt.
You will get an email within 36 hours telling you how much you have earned and a printable voucher will be available.
You print your voucher and use it with the original receipt in store to pay for stuff

I just spent £16ish and expect about £19 back from tesco

Cheers Kiz, thats sort of the idea I was looking for. I did a normal shop in Tesco & submitted the receipt no as planned - but it looks to me that Tesco work it out on the WHOLE shop as opposed to individual items. SO, if you're like me and are taking advantage of Tesco's Buy2 Diest Coke & Get 2 free - you won't see much of a saving.

Research first and do the more expensive items on one receipt.
