FANTASY RYDER CUP

Summary
- select a team of 12 golfers to score points during the Ryder Cup
- pay £3 for one team; £5 for 3
- super league facility
- deadline 7:45am, Friday, October 1
- link http://fantasygolf.telegraph.co.uk/

Telegraph blurb:

Earn points during the weekend depending on how your chosen golfers perform as you compete for prizes worth £10,000 including golf breaks, equipment, clothing and a fantastic trip to Celtic Manor to follow in the footsteps of the pros on the Ryder Cup course, The Twenty Ten.

Once you’ve picked your team, you can make unlimited changes to your line-up before The Ryder Cup gets underway at 7:45am on Friday 1 October. However, once the tournament starts, no further changes will be allowed.

Scoring points:
Managers selections will score points on the following basis:
+10 points for each player winning in a match
+5 points for each player in a drawn match
0 points for each player losing a match

Bonus Points:
+1 point per hole in a match-winning margin eg: win by 4 holes = +4 points, win by 3 holes = +3 points
-1 point per hole in a match-losing margin eg: lose by 4 holes = -4 points, lose by 3 holes = -3 points
+5 points for a hole in one scored by a player
+ and - points are doubled for star player selections

I like the idea of this. Will you be creating a super league?

FISO super league has now been set up. The best performing Super League at the end of the tournament receives £200. If won by FISO SL, prize will be shared equally by five highest scoring teams.

If interested, can you please:

- create golf team(s) and set to public (ie, viewable by league members; game has no transfer facility, by the way)

- add team details to this thread; eg, own trio = Sultans of Swing; Strawberry Fields; Evergreen

In return, I'll check here daily and forward SL name and PIN by PM. Deadline is 7:45am, Friday, October 1.

I wonder if the public leagues set up by the telegraph will also be responsible for the superleague prize - if they are consistent with the football game then the answer will be yes. In which case FISO will not have much of a chance as USA and Europe are the only two choices. But its £200 so hey ho.

3 teams I would like to enter into the FISO league.

Eenog Koning
Yips (baby got the)
Pradveg at t'Melkweg

Cheers

@ Ashers,

Think the Ryder Cup game is 20% skill, 80% luck, so it'll probably be more fun to select own dozen.

Perhaps the expert golf fantasists on FISO may be able to offer better advice but one suggestion is to make just one player your mandatory star selection on Sunday singles day. This is on basis that points are doubled so your other five star golfers who, with luck/skill could play and win twice on Fri or Sat, may earn more fantasy points than those on the final day when all 24 turn out just once.

Another guide is the current betting: eg, these are the expected top points scorers:
T Woods (USA) 8/1
R McIlroy (Europe) 10/1
M Kaymer (Europe) 12/1
S Stricker (USA) 12/1
P Mickelson (USA) 12/1
G McDowell (Europe) 14/1
More odds: http://sports.ladbrokes.com/en-gb/Golf/ ... 110000371|

Good luck.

A Trot in the Park

I agree with your assessment that it's 80% luck - golf is impossible to predict at the best of times. Ryder Cup even more so!

ps @Ashers - going 50/50 on weekends away could be difficult!

I palyed at Celtic Manor in March with the Fiso Golf Society and this is me at the hallowed portal. Monty phoned me up the other day to pick my brains about the course but I told him to get stuffed for not picking me as a Wild Card. :D
