After using this neat forum app (Tapatalk) previously, I asked Admin to have the functionality added to FISO.

http://www.tapatalk.com/

The app allows you to browse forums from your Smartphone device; iPhone, Android (HTC, Sony etc), Blackberry and Nokia. (See tapatalk site for full compatibility list).

So rather than having to read the forum via a browser on your smartphone, this is a proper forum app.

You can set up post, read, set-up bookmarks of your favourite sub-forums and still do all the usual stuff (Private Message, Search etc).

Personally, I think it certainly improves the forum experience from your smart phone and a couple of quid for the full version of the app is well worth it. (although you can try the read-only version for free. See tapatalk site for pricing as some version appear to be free (Blackberry and Nokia))

Also, theres not just FISO available to browse, at last count there were over 4,000 forums "tapatalk activated".

PS. I am not affliated to Tapatalk in any way, I just enjoy using it.

Is there a way to search 'latest 24 hours' using it, as oppose to venturing into each individual forum room?

Does the pop-up come on EVERY time you visit using the browser?

On my Android phone, i got the pop-up the first time i visited FISO using the browser, but on subsequent visits I don't get the pop up.

Wonder if its a cookie issue or something?? :?

I'm wondering if theres any help on here: http://www.tapatalk.com/forum/

Got a PM from goldenballs to confirm that it's stopped now.

Or the one I use which is "view your posts" only, or even "view new posts".

Not that I'm "jealous" or out ( 8-) ) - my phone only cost a tenner - but is there any way for the forum (or even the maker) to get rid of the annoying signature?

It's a blatant advertising plug and if every Tom, Dick and Harry app manufacturer did it...

The threads would look a right mess (imho) and surely costs would increase because of all the extra storage space required etc. etc. (Edit: If it were included on the left hand side that the user is a tapatalk user, great, it would be rather innocuous but infecting every post dialogue box, I ask you!)

Maybe they should call these flash phones taptobreak but then again I've not experienced sufficient phone rage yet to attempt smashing one up! ;)

Rant over.

Anyone else tired of the signature (now / potentially in the future)? Or am I just a grumpy old fart?

Cool - just downloaded the beta version on my Blackberry and posting this message using it. It'll never be as good as regular access but will suffice when on the move :)

Why not just access FISO as normal using the internet browser on your phone?
It is the same as using a PC

i guess using the full html version via the smartphones browser needs some element of zooming in to view text - wheras the app is designed to size the thread to fit screen and also removes clutter.

It really isn't - it's much much slower in my experience.

It's a special, insidious kind of signature. I can't turn it off at my end. :( Used control panel > display options > show signatures (turned to off) > SUBMIT.

Guess I'll just have to get used to it (it will probably go out of fashion soon enough!).

It's not my signature.

It's someone else's. From the Sun FF forum (without giving too much away - as I certainly have no problem with the guy otherwise, hardly knowing him in fact :) ).

And now it seems to have disappeared as if by magic!

Maybe he read this thread and edited his settings

Maybe logging out of FISO and then back in again fixed it for me.

Either way I feel bad now.

Some people probably hate excessive use of smilies, eh? ;)

Either way, it was more a pre-emptive whine - at what could develop if other people use that app / other rival apps start displaying such messages - than anything directed at any individual user.

Is Tapatalk (still) the best way to access FISO on my new Android smartphone?

No probs using fiso via normal browser for me on my Desire. Can't see any difference between it and PC browser tbh.

It's hugely more practical to use tapatalk rather than safari on the iPhone.

Just generally more user friendly, although I can't seem to figure out how to add a smilie to a post (yes I do have them enabled). Any ideas?

There is no "View your posts" option so consequently I don't use it even though I bought it.

Having got that bookmarked on the iphone it's so easy to quickly access it to see if there any new posts without having to go through several moves on an app to get to the same point (if it was available).

Same, works perfectly for me. The only issue I have is that holding the phone in portrait and having the text large enough to read the individual posts means that I can't see who posted it or when it was posted without scrolling a little to the left and right. It's very annoying.

I have mentioned this and suggested a very simple workaround, but the mods who responded just dismissed me...

Of course the phones browser can access the forum - It is an internet phone. The point of Tapatalk is that is gets rid of the not large enough text, the not being able to see who posted what, when it was posted etc within the app. Thats the point of it. To make viewing the (or other) forums easier.

Had a text of gazwood moaning because he cant access FISO via tapatalk at the moment. He asked me to raise it in here.

I tried, and i can't either (but i'm sat in front of my laptop)

Error message reads...

"It appears the server has some issue with tapatalk or your session is expired. If this problem persists, please re-enter this forum from account tab"

Any chance we can prevent people using Tapatalk from multi posting? I understand that they are getting some sort of error message so they just keep retrying. It's ruining a number of threads - and will also mean murf is on 100,000 posts by the end of November

Either that, or just a message asking people to copy their text before they submit and if they get an error, just check it hasn't posted in forum before reposting. If it hasn't, just paste the text again, without having to rewrite.
