This is my first year playing FPL, enjoying getting my head round the strategy. I did think that only in the most extreme of circumstances (e.g I get 5 outfield suspensions in a particular gameweek and Arsenal are home to Wigan where RVP is 50%+ to score), in this case I would take a hit signing RVP. However reading a few threads before signing up I got the impression some of the experienced players think regular taking hits can be a wise play. That surprised me.

(Apologies if there's already a thread on this).

Multiple Transfers
Unless you play your one and only wildcard, multiple transfers cost hard earned points.
The question is, is it ever worth it? Well ..... do you feel lucky?

There's no perfect way to judge whether multiple transfers have paid off or not - you can look at it from the perspective of one week and think you've done great, but several weeks later things might not look so hot!
The best advice I can offer is to try and avoid throwing points whenever you can, but don't be afraid to do them if your team is falling to pieces.
It's often better to play a lowly sub and get 1,2 even 6, than to 'do a double' and throw 4 points away. However, if you've no playing subs (why not!? ) and can field only 10 or fewer players, then, sure, sort yourself out and pay up the points.

There are plenty of times when taking a 4 point hit is worth it IMO.

Eg if a player you want is going up in price you may not be able to afford him if you wait.

Made a very tough decision myself last night, decided to bring Adebayor in for Rooney. In the short term this is probably a bad move (costing 4 points and missing out on an easy home match for Rooney) but Adebayor was due a price rise and waiting would have scuppered my plans for next week (It would have made VDV unaffordable and I really want him in for the DGW).

Sometimes I think you've just got to do what your gut tells you. IMO it can be worth the penalty just to get a team you're happy with!
