African Cup of Nations
If a player plays for a team who get to the Carling Cup semi-final, he could easily miss as many as 8 games if he heads off to the African Cup of Nations.

Otherwise, he will probably miss around 5 or 6 due to league games and the FA Cup 3rd & 4th rounds.

Internationals
Also added the International matches 3 days before the Premiership season starts. As well as the other 2 international breaks in 2009.

Updated the list now that the Europa League "Play-off" and Champions League "Play-off" games DO COUNT towards dream team.

Its all down to the wording of the tie's from UEFA.

European "Qualifiers" still DO NOT count, but "Play-offs" DO count.

You lads are winding me up, surely?
These playoffs are qualifying rounds inorder to enter the comps proper. They have never counted in the past towards DT scoring.

Correct John, qualifying games have never counted, but they've classed these new play-off games differently...... its in this season's T&C's.

T&C's wrote:
"Eligible Matches" are Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League matches (in which a Premier League club plays), UEFA Champions League matches (in which a Premier League club plays) and Carling Cup matches (in which a Premier League club plays) for the 2009/2010 season only. Qualifying rounds for the Champions League and Europa League are not Eligible Matches, but the new play-off rounds in each of these tournaments are Eligible Matches. International matches are not Eligible Matches.

Mate they CHANGED the rules.
It definately was not in there the day we visisted the SUN, infact we all commented on that particular fact in that one of us would of spotted it when they told us play off deciders were included.
Zarch even got the tinternet up on his phone to show what we knew, what they said, did not correspond with the rules.
THEY CHANGED IT HASTILY- as they did last season on the 20 points bono for top individual scorer. So it aint necessarily your fault you probably just didnt re-read the rules nearer the off so to speak.

Dot,

You'd think the scoring details and the T&C pages should be singing from the same hymn sheet, but they still don't quite do it. Only the T&C's specifically mention the Play-Off games, whereas the Scoring Details page only says qualifying games don't count. No wonder we are all confused by it.

From Scoring Details wrote:
Players who appear in the official Dream Team Player List score points in Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and Carling Cup matches from Saturday August 15th 2009 until the final game of the season. Qualifying rounds for the Champions League and Europa League do NOT count.

I can't be sure that on that boozy afternoon in the curry house I didn't look at the "Scoring Details" part of the website from my phone rather than the T&C's.

I dont recall when you showed me , might of been when you got the unemployed out in the khazi and asked if i was impressed? i do recall down sarf i said we aint impressed with 2-inches of snarling grisselle and ginger pubes.
Yet what i do recall is when they all said in the 'meet and greet' that play offs scores are included this season, all 11 of us looked at one another in astonishment as it definately was not in any T/C'S.
i reckon Tony Warner was late getting down the pub as he hasilty amended the rules.
I for one was not into using Arsenal players pre the ist window as they missed out on a game, with the Suns late admission to us without realising it was in the rules, Arsenal went from minus 1 game to plus 1 game and suddenly became attractive( sub to beating the scots)

Zarch, I just wanted to check these fixtures. I think you've counted these as 4 games because you've arrived at 17 matches for Arsenal, 15 for Chelsea/Man Utd/Liverpool. It's probably the case that they'll play 1/2 of the round of 16 1st leg on the 16th and 1/2 of the round of 16 1st leg on the 24th. Ditto the 2nd leg. So the 4 games is actually only 2.

I think the total is 13 made up of: 6 group match days; 2 round of 16 legs; 2 QF legs; 2 semi legs; a final (+ 2 play offs for Arsenal.)

Apologies if I've messed up with this logic.

There is a link to it in the Zarch FAQ thread (which IS a sticky).
