As well as 3 English clubs and Ajax, the article mentions 'Italy and Spain' which have a lot of clubs although maybe 800 is a tad excessaive as they would probably have to be professional clubs to be really interested.

My guesses for the Liverpool silly season:

GK: Unchanged

Centre back: IN - new signing, possibly the bloke from Valencia or Wheater.

Full backs: OUT - Dossena (worth more to others), IN - a right back, possibly Glen Johnson.

Centre Midfield - Barry??? I'm thinking not!..... if Alonso wants to stay which I think he does. Maybe buy someone cheap to complement squad.

Wide Midfield / support attack - OUT - Babel. IN - David Silva as our big signing. May also be A.N.Other

Forwards - IN - sombody as back up to Torres, not David Villa (possibly doubling up as the A.N.Other above).

Seria a is getting worse and worse, no better league than bundesleague or french one. Why woud kaka not want to play for a club that he suits its style of play and is in the top 5 teams in the world. We already managed to beat other clubs to Arshavin, why not kaka?
Hangalend just says that cos he wants better contract.
If Barry goes to pool with his best friend gerrard alonsos got to go somewhere, and arsenal showed interest in him last year.

I am in my early 40's with dodgy knees and ankles, but apparently that means I will get on with the other players. There is just the small print to sort out. We have agreed on the number of zeros, and we have agreed to roll a couple of die tomorrow to settle on the first number. Oh my position is still to be agreed, but I have the number 14 agreed.

Liverpool would be stupid to let Alonso go to Arsenal, especially to be replaced by Gareth.

For me the challenge now for Ronaldo is Barca, a move to Madrid almost certain. If he doesnt sign a five year deal for Nike next week (no Nike allowed at the Bernabau) he will be in the white of Madrid next season. :cry:

I think he'd be within Villas budget, has the pace to work well with Agbonlahor and Young in a lightning front 3 and to be honest, he has something to prove in the Premiership doesn't he? He should be hungry.

Who, Martins? Officially he's 24! I know Nigerian players' ages can be a bit dodgy on occasions but that would still put him at least the right side of 30 (and Carew's not actually that old either, I remember being surprised when I saw his age earlier this season).

regardless of their poor show (if a show at all) in Champions League, they're bringing in more trophies.

I'd class you as top 6-7, not top 5.. if you are regularly finishing 4th in the Premier League you don't deserve to be in the top 5 in the world imo.

all of those signings you highlighted, won't happen. a few signings yes, Kaka and co. not a hope. Why would he go to Arsenal when he could fit straight in at Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Barca?

For once, you are not alone Groomy.

Martins would be a great acquisition for Villa, Everton or Man City. I don't think that he is the right player for any of the Top 4 sides - unless Van Persie leaves Arsenal. The only doubt is his fitness, although Newcastle have a habit of turning healthy players into sick notes.
