I started a thread ages ago, which I can not find..........

While I refuse to believe he is singing this live, I would not have had him covering one of the best songs ever written

My favourite strange (as in different to the original rather than bad) cover;

The original thread was for performers that you would not put to the song unlike probably the nicest bloke in music doing the best song :wink:

I knew him before he was famous.

Maybe the originals should be posted?

I used to think Liz had done the best cover, but I have just found this (I thought that he had been shit after Led Zep, to the extent that I believed the others had carried him.)

Re the intro, Liz (Cocteau Twins, was shagging the son, when he died, and father and son drowned, and please not the line in the song, about lying "in the breakers and taste my pride")

The original

I think the Radio 2 banner is the giveaway :wink:

Cocaine, allegedly, then rehab, then nothing.

The original Comfortably Numb is a masterpiece and probably my favourite track by Pink Floyd and when I first heard Scissor Sisters were covering it I thought it was going to be a disaster.

However I really like the cover :o - mainly because it's completely different and not a straightforward cover if you get what I mean :?

As for strange covers this thread wouldn't be complete without a mention for William Shatner who's done so many weird ones that youtube is your friend ... Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Mr Tamborine Man, Rocket Man etc .... genius :lol:

Quite taken by the Unholy Trio's cover of Public Enemy's Bring the Noise

http://www.myspace.com/unholytrio/music

Press play symbol next to track no. 1

Perhaps we should also mention the Gourds version of Gin & Juice (Snoop Dog) - ignore the crummy video!
