if The sun are predicting the line ups more accurately than the Guardian...doesn't that say something about the Guardian.

Why not compare The Sun to Sky or maybe Goal.com.

Because i can get the guardian line ups off the internet on Saturday mornings and i started the thread.

Others in the beginning stuck up the mail and the mirror and i included them in the survey..
AS I am the only person on this site who ADMITS TO BUYING THE SUN (but 8.5 mio people read it) i could rely on myself to conduct this survery weekly'

That i couldn't rely on others to stick up the mail and mirror every week aint my fault consequently they have been binned.

I cannot get the information for these papers from the internet and started this survey more to prove a point that the SUNS FOOTBALL COVERAGE IS SECOND TO NONE ON A SATURDAY, ESPECIALLY ON THEIR GOALS PULL OUT.

So far i have proved to others what i already knew.

I'm happy to continue this till xmas at least but the Sun won't be caught now.

I don't think there was ever much chance of the Guardian line-up predictions beating those of the Sun or any other national daily paper with a decent footie coverage, as the Guardian publish theirs online on Friday,so will always be at a disadvantage, though for many FF players who need to sort their teams out by Friday night, the Guardian forecasts are probably quite useful, and their presentation is good.

up until the last time anyone stuck up the mails predicted line-ups the Sun was leading the survey,

RUNNING TOTALS

938/880 SUN
936/880 MAIL
925/880 GUARDIAN

-----------------------------------------------
RUNNING TOTALS 11/11

17 SUN
17 GUARDIAN
16 MAIL

Might also add you may well get the guardians line ups off the net late on a Friday night but the sun newspaper is also out in london LATE on a Friday night so their line ups are done at the same time, as their line ups are on the back of the goals pull -out.

No,that's the point you're missing - you may not pick them up until late Friday night, but the Guardian's squad sheets are published on Friday afternoon, some just after lunch and the remainder as more info becomes available during the afternoon.

Here are the first 3 games they published this afternoon for example

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/series/squad-sheets

Not everyone lives/works in London you know, and even those that do usually can't wait to get out of there ASAP on Poet's Day so very few will see the first editions of Saturday's SUN on newstands late on Friday night.

Ok point taken well i made my point too.
The Suns coverage is good for sport.

I'l leave this thread now its pretty time consuming anyway doing and checking the line ups and tom i'm tapped for time as im away fro weekend.

so this is the end of the thread.

buy the saturday Sun is my advice.

Just for the record,I don't rely on any one source of team news and only occasionally look at the Guardian's predictions, but I felt it only fair to point out the Guardian's disadvantage in any comparison.

Those in the Mail are as good as any,but I wouldn't rely on them any more than I would on those in the Sun or the Mirror.

Most of us probably try to watch out for any fitness news from any source, but in the end we all have our personal favourites.

The exercise you started with this thread was an interesting one and potentially very useful, but it really needed to include a wide variety of sources for comparison and unless someone with spreadsheet capability and the time to process all the info were to volunteer,it's just too time consuming for someone like yourself,so no-one can blame you(though some will !) for not continuing with it.

chrispyb input the Mail's predictions initially, but evidently struggled to do it regularly and I stepped in to help one week when he couldn't do it,so I know how time consuming it is,except for touch typists maybe.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts sleuth, which were also evidently appreciated by others who have previously posted their thanks.

Maybe it would be a useful "project" for some unemployed individual,or university IT student who has an interest in fantasy football.
