Hook you in? If you were tempted to get Sky sports I am sure the reason would be to watch live sports.
I can't imagine the inane waffle of Matt Le Tissier,Charlie Nicholas and the big nosed scouser would make that much difference. The match updates featuring the monosyllabic utterings of Ian Dowie and Dean Windass, or the high pitched screeches of the over excitable Chris (HE SCORED!, NO HE HASNT!) Kamara is hardly the deal breaker.

Yeah I'm gutted to be losing SSN. The double blow for me is that the annual price of sky sports for pubs has gone up to over 20k!!

I just can't afford to take that hit on my P&L, so won't be getting it. My Saturday And Sunday trade will feel the brunt of it, but with me having SSN on throughout the days, I'm going to end up stuck with Jeremy Kyle!

As I said at the top - gutted!!

No surprises here then

If Sky's advertisers are reading this then Murdoch is in for a tough time

http://www.barb.co.uk/

According to figures published by the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB) today, Sky Sports News, the 24-hour sports news service provided by BSkyB, has lost nearly a third of its audience since going behind a paywall.

The channel, which was available on Freeview from its inception in 2002, ceased to exist on the platform at 6am on Monday 23rd August. For its last week free-to-air on DTT, w/c 16th August, it achieved a weekly reach of 8.9m individuals and a 1.1% audience share. On its first week exclusive to pay TV, w/c 23rd August, its weekly reach collapsed to 6.4m individuals, a 0.7% share.

Sky Sports News' flagship programming has also seen big drops since the change. Jeff Stelling's Gillette Soccer Saturday was among the hardest hit, dropping 45% from a high of 660,000 viewers on the 21st August, its final broadcast available on Freeview, to just 366,000 a week later. Elsewhere, coverage of the UEFA Champions League draw attracted an audience of 293,000, down 32% on the 431,000 that watched last year.
