Now up & running.

link

I've set up a FISO m/l.

Those people wanting to join this league must make themselves known on this thread, along with their team name and I will pm them the entry code.

The league will be closed to new entrants on midnight 31st August.

Just checked before heading to bed and it's live http://fantasyfootball.skysports.com

From a quick look it appears that there are no changes to the game from last year (including only a prize for the top 3 which I only mention as I'm still not over coming 4th!).

The other prize details that will be of interest to FISOers is the change to the Private League winners prize - instead of £100 each for the top 5 it is now a table football machine each?!?

Anyway, I'm off to pick my team.

Just to add, on first look the website is much better in terms of your team page and selecting players - although once you select your team you can't make any changes as transfers are 'coming soon'.

A dumb newbie-to-Sky question: how many transfers per season are allowed and are they free of charge?
Couldnt see this anywhere in the terms... thanks folks :D

Nice new website. Good to see OFL have kept it, too. If the code of my team reflects the number of entries, already over 5,000 have joined.

Last season I believe it was 30. Free transfers, but only 5 per month.

Cash Prizes or not,the same principle applies. We don't want a repeat of last season's farce, where anyone seeing we were top of the minileagues and in line for cash prizes, was able to join our ML without even needing to become a member of Fiso ! and then walk off with the cash !

It's vital that whoever sets up this season's minileague does so in the same way the Sky Fantasy Lions ML was eventually sorted by pa102aw - using a prominent colour like purple to emphasise the requirement for Fiso membership to join the ML,and for everyone entering the Fiso ML to post their team name on the thread, anyone failing to do so by the start of the season to be removed from the minileague, and late entrants not allowed to join. Once bitten, twice shy !

I think it's best that someone other than me sets this ML up this year.

If there's going to be lots of discussion about who's going to run this, then I will offer ro run it. Since the m/l prize will be distributed to the individuals, I would quite happily set up the code & then pass it out by pm. There's no benefit to the league chairman of asking for the prizes to be delivered to himself ... after all, what would one person do with 5 table football games?

If some-one else wants to do it, then I'll be quite happy, but if it just needs an individual to send out pm's then I can manage that.

That's fine with me...are we going to set a criteria for joining the league e.g minimum no. of posts?...

re Post count:
My view is that isn't necessary,as it often leads to ridiculous repetition of nonsense, simply in order to qualify.

If shaggy's willing to PM the ML joining code to every Fiso member who follows the prescribed requirement of posting their desire to join our ML together with their team name on the appropriate thread - (this one perhaps, if shaggy's OP is amended,to set out the rules ?) that I feel should be sufficient. The deadline's important though,to deter people from seeing our ML is doing well, and joining for that reason, possibly making just the one post, expressing their wish to join our ML.

If anyone wishes to amend their team name subsequently for some reason, they should post the information on this thread.

That way,we'll know who everyone is,and that they are genuine Fiso members. That's all we've ever asked.

I've now edited my posting.

The m/l is set up.

Unfortunately I can't change my team name, so my team is called "Team Name". Presumably I'll be able to change it once the transfers bit kicks in.

a man of action ! well done, shaggy, that should do the trick.

The facility to change one's team name is handy in your case, as there could be a lot of teams called "my team name" ,but it does have the potential to cause problems, as we saw last season, especially if someone's illegally managed to enter more than one team.

However, there's not much if anything we can do about that, except stay vigilant, as it's an FL matter.

I can't announce my own request to join,or team name,as I've so far been unable to get the site to accept my entry and had to e-mail them for help this afternoon.

Every time I tried to enter,as soon as I pressed "submit",a notice appeared, saying that "you are only allowed to enter one team " !

When I clicked on "My team" to see what was showing there,a notice appeared,"you have not selected a team yet " !

derbynige and jasper18, neither of you will get the joining code without showing your team names,as stipulated in shaggy's opening post !

shaggy, perhaps you can put those words "along with your team name" in purple ?

One of them has been a member of FISO for last 4 years, the other one for 3 years with 2000+ posts. They are not allowed to join into ML unless they tell their team names? :)
Is this the new FISO rule?
You like strick rules aren't you. That's why actually I only quote part of your post, because I know you don't like people quoting long posts.

I'm a bit disappointed about that comment, C Sativa, from someone like yourself who I believe saw what went on in the Sky FF last season, and would have expected support from you for this procedure.

If people don't declare their team names,(and why should they be shy about doing so ?) it becomes difficult,if not impossible to know who's who,as the Fiso usernames often don't appear in the Minileague tables.

jasper18 may have been a member for 4 years, but as he's not made many posts in that time,is not well known, and once you start making exceptions because of the length of time someone's been a member or how many posts they've made,it becomes a much bigger task than it need be for shaggy to administer.

How much more of an effort is it for people to state their team name when posting their request for the ML joining code ?

I do feel strongly about this, seeing that some complete stranger, not even a Fiso member, walked off with £100 cash that really belonged to Jonathan last season.

He changed not only his team name, but his own identity along the way. This way, that shouldn't happen.

And yes,I do support Zimmerman 's valiant efforts to persuade people to use their "reply" button, rather than the "quote" button when possible, instead of repeating what everyone else has just said over and over again.,choking threads in the process.
