Hey, long time no see. Wondered if anyone out there could give me a bit of advice on my Sky+ box.

The memory is filling up with different programmes, most of which we want to keep, so does anyone know how I can hive off these programmes onto DVD or my computer so that I can free up some extra space?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Scart it to a DVD recorder, hit play & record & keep.

Hi Newbie! :D

I do what Bob says but if you have to buy a dvd recorded it may be a better idea to get another hard disk recorder?

One thing I would say is do it sooner rather than later - if the Sky+ drive gets too full it's likely to play up and you could lose everything you have saved. I know from experience! We never let ours get above 70% these days and mostly it's well below that.

Welcome back!

I've looked this up on geek forums before and there really is no other way but DVD recorders. Even if you can rip out the hard drive and get to the files then they are encoded unless they are freeview. Sky check your viewing card when playing and decoding recordings.

Our 1TB recorder is already 80% full and we delete everything as soon as we watch them.

Lots of HD films and series we want to watch. One day.....

There is a programme called copy+ you can use and there is a few covertors out there, one is called +extract I think. I did it for a few recordings but the time it too was kind of inhibiting.

Another way is to have more than one HD in an external caddy. i.e. Take the existing HD out of the sky box stick it in a caddy. Copy one file from your existing HD onto a new hard drive in another caddy then instead of using the internal sata cable connect to the preferred HD outside the box.

I've not done this in a while so not sure if the current skyboxes/software allows you to do it?

Whats going on in Leith these days :D
Ive heard on internal drives being replaced with bigger ones, but I know that when I cancelled Sky+ even though it was working in Freeview I lost all of my SKy+ recordings so there's definately some protection on there.
