With you there, Groomy, the Players last week was painful :(

Still the Irish should be worth watching this week, then it's the PGA week after next (good old Beeb), then US Open 3 weeks later - I can hear the wife moaning already

S*d Setanta!

That'll be eight teams actually :)

And you're only behind five of them, so stop exaggerating!

See Setanta are doing a deal at the mo - £5 for first 3 mths, then £15/mth for the rest of the year. Tempted?

Signed up for Setanta 3 weeks ago £15 per month from the start  Mrs Lister and I watch so much golf that we had to do it. We have just gone from Orange to Sky broadband though saving us £18 per month so it was a bit of no brainer really.

god i miss the golf !!!!!!!!!!!

yep i have to agree, sun evenings without the golf has taken the shine away from the fantasy side of things , nothing to do with a really poor start, i may claim my £15 back from setanta....

I've managed to catch the first round of both the Zurich Classic and the AT&T on Setanta. The rest of the time it's encrypted.
Does anyone know if they do the first rounds free to the public? Did anyone know about this too? :?:

Maybe it is like those adult channels which, I am told, have a 10 minute freeview at midnight to get you interested. Of course, I have only been told this and don't know it to be true  Perhaps they hope you get so engrossed when trying to see a hole in one (back on the golf btw ), that they hope you sign up for the rather expensive subscription.

I've heard a few people who subscribe moan about how everyone gets day 1 free, I check and it's always scrambled

Excellent reply

BRAVO

(Oops - going down the poor man's adult channel route)

I sadly have to stick to Setanta

Had it brought to my attention that if you are going to get it (Setanta) then as you can get it on Freeview that it is best to do so. Freeview box costs £20-£30 and rental is cheaper. ALso - if you go away or want to put it in another room you can just move the freeview box.

Far to sensible for me!

Must admit i was a bit miffed when i subscribed and it was freeview day.

Well I'm watching the first round of AT&T national right now :D , for about the sixth week running (with a normal Sky box and no Setanta subscription). I'll be watching it for the next few hours. Give it a go!
...And anyone else who hasn't discovered this yet.

Am well p*issed off with Setanta at the minute, subscribing has been worth it as I watch loads of golf but I got any offer through yesterday linked with the Yorkshire bank who I pay my subscription through. They said subscribe now for £1 for the first 2 months then it would be £9.99 a month after that I phoned Setanta and they said I am stuck with paying £15 a month as I joined up a few months ago and am tied in for a year

If you don't get that deal they are offering other deals at the moment so hopefully you will get something decent.

You are right, its only £9.99 a month for all the channels, i paid more than that just for NASN before the merge.

It might even be worth opening an account with the Yorkshire to pay your direct debit I have just read the small print and it does not say you have to have been with the bank a certain amount of time. It says £10 connection fee minimum contract 12 months

they do have premiership football this season too

The only thing i will say is people now think nothing of paying for sky yet say they will not pay for SETANTA, an interesting paradox.

i personally do not pay for it but i am tempted i must say. Get rid of the movies and get setanta.

Depends how hard you haggle, tell them to cut you off and you will be cancelling your direct debit purely to sign up again. They may relent.

Sky certainly do when their offers come up

Not sure to be honest. I just like ringing and argueing the t0ss.

Whenever sky had their new deals for new customers I would ring and tell them I was cancelling but my step daughter would then be taking out a subscription., They would say this was not allowed and I would tell them it was as I no longer wanted sky but someone else in the house did. They then just ask if I'm only doing it for the saving money and I'd say yes and we'd agree that I would get 6 months half price :)

They can do what they want so will normally relent to keep your custom (get you off the phone)

It is currently in Mrs Listers name so I may try to get her to cancel and stop the direct debit then try to open an account in my name.

Setanta via broadband now £7.99/month for the Prem footie & golf with no min contract,so you could just cancel June and July 2008 and restart in August. Good deal it seems to me.

Or get the 2 months free by paying £79.99 lump sum in advance(12 month contract).
