Now I know that you should always get proper seed spuds as you then know what you are growing and they are more disease resistant. However I may have to give this a re-think.

Got a proper variety last year (but have forgotten the name) and whilst I had a fairly good early crop they didn't do as well as they could as they suffered from terrible blight due to the wet weather.

This year I have planted a variety of wizened tubers from behind the veg rack and whilst this summer isn't quite as wet at last year I have a good crop and no blight.

Both were chitted in the same way and planted in the same plot. The only difference was that this years crop followed on from some non-sprouting sprouts.

Do sprouts fix some sort of anti blight goodness in the ground? You heard it here first. :P

I've found good pots. growing in the compost heap from peelings, mate, so you've got every chance with your new method. I would always choose seed pots. but if I've got some extra ground and something rough and ready lying around, I would definitely go for it.

I promise not to tell her. Have you got any free bay trees going? I remember you were giving 'em away once

I can fix you up with some if you can start a new thread on How To Take Cuttings From Bay Trees.
