Not drunk driving, but DRINKING and DRIVING at the same time!

Unbe effing lievable!

My mother in law has just been involved in an accident! She was sat in her parked car waiting for my sister in law to get in, when a van appeared, swerving over the road and crashing into MIL's parked car. Totally written off the car. That's just the tip of the iceberg!

They then found out that the driver was drunk, but also was drinking from a can of Lager whilst driving! He has been arrested - obviously! But effing disgusting......

Bloody polish! (yes, that's what he is). A mid 30 year old polish chap is in a police station as we speak somewhere in deepest darkest Zummerzet!

Shocked!!!

Thank the stars your MIL was ok (I presume she is) and that your SIL wasn't walloped in the process.

We get a lot of drink drivers with open cans of beer in the car
The eastern european men do seem to favour a spot of drink driving around my way. Hate to think what it's like on the continent if that is the norm!

Just because a few Poles do it doesn't make it the norm on the continent.

Very racist, all the Polish I know are very hardworking and put the English to shame.
More likely to be English youths drinking and driving than the Polish.

I never knew poland was the whole of eastern europe
I also clarified that i was talking about where i work.
The attitude to drinking in different cultures is a different discussion entirely, but seems to play a certain part in this topic

Ok.
So a few eastern europeans doing it about the area you work doesn't make it the norm on the continent.
Most countries in Europe have strict drink drive rules and that includes Eastern Europe. That said, when I lived in Moscow it was not unusual to see taxi drivers drinking vodka in the taxi ranks while waiting for fares.

Try not saying 'bloody polish'. It does have the unfortunate effect of making it sound like a bit of a generalisation. Just sayin'

Sted's got a point - you haven't even had to be invaded, yet you are still England's bitch. That's got to hurt the psyche.

The fact that you weren't even considered to be worth invading says so much.

@ Dr B, yes fair point.

@Surprised and Wilbert. I believe the insurance stuff is all fine. Police have been contacted etc. The "mrs'" parents are quite switched on to all of this sort of stuff and things are in hand. It would appear they have some clause in their policy (Direct Line) which covers them against uninsured drivers.

The fact that the guy was literally begging them not to call the police screams that he was hiding something, be it driving whilst disqualified, or no insurance or whatever.

All appears to be well regards MIL's injuries, or lack of them. All will become clearer tomorrow I guess.

Thanks for the concern that's been shown.

Exactly.

However, I'm a Scouser. I live here. It's a form of assimilation.

As a result, they don't shag sheep anymore......back to you Achiles.

yet he is the one generalizing and being RACIST to the Polish.

you really are a tit aren't you?

Richt never generalised, he commented on one person, the driver, who was indeed Polish. YOU started the sweeping Generalisation.
