Scotsman Fantasy Golf 2011 - Who's Playing This Week

Here we go again for another year of thrills and spills.

Please pm me if you think I have made any errors.

No doubt Pa will set up a chat thread and password thread for this competition, so we can just keep the posts here for updates.

Has Stephen Gallacher been removed from the game? I see some teams have him as their pick in Group 9 - but he isn't available on my lists or, seemingly, yours either Polarbear. He's not playing this week - but I'd've liked him in my squad before the weekly transfer scramble beging come Sunday evening.

Yes, they removed Gallagher from the game after registration started. I think there was an email sent out about this and he will still appear in your team (but not score points) until you transfer him out.

I think they realised he was a class above the others in that group (no disrespect to the other golfers in G9) and didn't have space for him elsewhere.

I'm sure a couple of players in other groups were also removed but I can't recall any names.

According to the stats page Stephen Gallacher is still owned by 38% of teams!!!

He's due to play in Malaysia. I think Silent managers / Scotsmans inbox may be full of emails from irate managers the following Tuesday if he does well there. :twisted:

my theory on Gallagher gate is that SM's system couldnt cope with the prospect of the same player appearing in two different groups in their games (Scotsman Group 9, IrishTimes Group10)... so they decided to bin him from the Scotsman Group 9 instead.

It is sure to be an issue like you say though, theres always something every year with SM.

Last year, first week they didnt give points to Kjeldsen because they spelt one letter in his name wrong. Or how about the fun with Monty's points in the Ryder cup, people getting told it doesnt count then giving him the non-playing points after the event.

Anyone any idea how it will work with Group 10 players???

'The Scotsman Fantasy Golf game is based on your player’s performance in tournaments on the 2011 PGA Tour, European Tour and Challenge tour (Group 10 only).'

However, I can't seem to find any mention of Challenge Tour events anywhere on the tourney pages.

Hi polarbear,

Will you be doing the same for the Yorkshire post game.

They only have 8 groups rather than the 10 in the Scotsman and Irish times versions with more options in each group.
(Martin Laird in group 8 is a little strange compared to the other players in that group)

groups 1-8 in the yorkshire game are exactly the same as groups 1-8 in the scotsman as far as i can tell

I was hoping that would be the case.

YP managers can just ignore Groups 9 and 10.

Maybe we'll find out in early May after the next Challenge Tour event (but as you say not listed on the Scotsman's Tournament pages):

There's a part of me hoping managers who have him do score points. The uproar that would ensue may be the catalist that forces the Scotsman to dump SM for good. :twisted:

Unfortunately I can't find the email either, my memory is vague on this - maybe someone will come along and jog my memory!

The email I think everyone is referring to is this one (sent 15th March 2011)

I just looked again at their player list and Gallacher has been put back in! :shock:

But if he wasn't on that email list how did he come to be removed? I'm totally confused

I just went onto scotsman which i got access with last weeks password and stephen gallagher has been given 155 points this week as my pal had him and his points have been added to his total a bit unfair to others playing
