I was out walking my dog Sandy at lunchtime today when I stopped to take a photo of the river in full spate on my mobile phone. Within a short period of time it changed from a lovely sunny day to a thundery rain storm. This is the sequence of events

The sky went from sunny blue to a pouring rain black inside a minute. Where I was standing it was still sunny, but the rain was sweeping towards me through the rainbow.

Wild and unspoiled nature at it's best. We also have the acolade of having the 'darkest sky' in the UK and probably Europe :D

A beautiful country, I have holidayed on a farm in Stirling, a cottage in Dumfries, and near Loch Lomond.
I remember driving our mini van and getting lost, this was before the age of sat navs, and ended up in a housing estate north of Glasgow. Not quite so beautiful.

Typical response from the village idiot.

Lovely photos pa, showing off how beautiful (and often frustrating) our countries weather can be.

I would not mind returning there soon, always wanted to be in Edinburgh for hogmanay, never managed it yet.

Very fortunate to be able to see so many stars at night. I've lived in built up areas for the last 25 years so rarely see them.
