Just wondering if anyone has ever holidayed in Sardinia? We're looking for a week's get away just after we get married in September but there seem to be a lot of hotels, most fairly expensive, but none that seem to standout from reviews I've read.

Anywhere you can recommend as a mini honeymoon?

Thanks

Went there over 20 years ago and thought about going again this year with the family but found the reviews very uninspiring as well, give it a miss.

Friend of mine just came back from Lake Garda and said it was a tremendous place to holiday, very picturesque so brownie points for you, although they shouldn't be required on the honeymoon.
He said it was much cheaper than expected as well. Meal for 2 adults and 2 kids (inc Wine) was averaging at 40 euros.

Lake Garda is gorgeous, especially the northeren end nestled in the Dolomites BUT I found the locals (e.g. shopkeepers, restaurant staff) to be the most miserable sods I have ever encountered on holiday and I have been around a lot of Europe, often France where the locals have that reputation but I have never encountered anything like the disdain to tourists I saw around Garda.

Stopped off at Sardinia 3 years ago during a Med cruise. Personally I thought it was an absolutely stunning island, and seemingly very quiet and relaxing. Anything but uninspiring, but then I was only there a day :? Depends what you are looking for I suppose.

I have some friends who run a (bike) shop in the Trentino area by Lake Garda and they are the friendliest people I have ever come across! Luck o' he draw I guess.

I have not been to Sardinia - but I do quite like sardines - not sure how helpful that is though.

No need they are being delievered :D

Imagine your Ford Focus - slightly dented front wing, in need of a clear, dodgy clutch got stolen from outside your house - then imagine you came home and saw a nice Brand new Mercedes sitting there - with a ribbon on perhaps with a leggy blonde shaking the keys. That kind of sums up the outcome.

Sorry off topic - GFranco Zola is Sardinian. Fact.
