4 liverpool players geta mark of 7 or better.

Carragher kelly-Gerrard and Bellamy

Oldhams Keeper who let in 5 gets 8/10
4 of Oldhams defenders who let in 5 get a 7/10 mark
3 of oldhams midfielders get a 7
their Goalscorer gets an 8 and Man Of The Match to boot.

match stats

Liverpool v Oldham
10 Shots On Target 4
9 Shots Off Target 6

Just because Oldham were plucky and scored a wonder goal to take the lead- does not constitute doing the marks at THAT TIME.

pHIL tHOMAS YOU ARE A eff DISGRACE- I DEDICATED A WHOLE THREAD TO YOU A COUPLE OF SEASONS AGO TO YOUR bias against Liverpool.

i couldnt give a eff shit how well Oldham might of played they let in 5 and their whole defnce are marked better than Liverpool,

there will not be one other cup game this weekend with a 4 goal superiority or better where this case is replicated

8 of the opposition players marked better including motm than the 5-1 victors.

eff disgrace! could cost some poor chap winning a prize in the monthly or seasonal.

chap off thomas

I sometimes feel as if you can be a bit over the top with your summaries of these markings Dot but I think that this is now as close to proof as you will ever get that they do the markings at half time of the late games.

I dont care how 'plucky' Oldham were, you cant give MOTM and such high marks to players on a team that lost 5-1.

Disgraceful

In fairness… he gave Coates a 6; he was a 3 at best :)

But I agree Dot.
On the whole a joke.

Fair enough, give the scorer of that goal an 8… was a wonder strike. But thats about it.

Its not even as if their keeping was pulling off save after save. So he conceded 5 and not a lot else i.e. its not as if he single handedly stopped it from being 10!

As you say, yes, they were plucky, but they were distinctly second best.

Not sure who I would have picked for MoM though.

Toss up between Shelvey and Bellamy, Jonjo just for me.

Really…. I thought he was pretty wasteful (Jonjo).
But I just have this thing with him where I just dont rate him as being good enough… so maybe I am just being blinkered.

Probably Bellamy - but even he had lengthy spells where he simply wasnt involved.

I'll re- raise that with Charlie Nicholas, Alan Smith, Worst ever Frank McLintock.

These marks are on a par with the famour Berbatov 4 goals and the motm went to the opposition forward who scored NONE and whose team were thrashed. Name escapes me at present

If memory serves, I think Berbatov got motm in the sun (for the game you're talking about), but in the NOTW team of the day, Marcus Bent picked up the star striker, despite scoring a total of zero goals that weekend.

This, ultimately, lead to my friends and colleagues league being scrapped and we all defected to FPL. Still not brought myself to do a sun team since then!

Bellamy for me as MOTM - Shelvey may have had it if he hadn't fallen over his feet in the area when the ball was begging to be buried in the net during the first half.
