Isn't the FA Cup 3rd round the obvious time for RVP to be rested if the poor wee mite is a bit tired? Or am I missing something?

So, a draw against Wolves. Is QPR a must win? If so, surely he must start? A bit risk for capt though for me.

Yeah, it's a bit of pain. Had they won today, I'd definitely not have captained him but this messes it up a bit...

I don't think he'll be 'rested' vs QPR.

But this GW has been surely one of the most bizarre in the last few FPL years. Almost every player who normally scores well - didn't. RVP being one of them.

As a holder of both RVP and Walcott, I am a bit annoyed about today. Annoyed, but not surprised.

If AW doesn't get cover in, when we lose Chamakh and Gervinho to the ACON, there won't be much opportunity to rest either of Walcott or Van Persie.

So the odds of "rests" in the meantime are reasonably high.

I do think Robin will be rested for the QPR game and will come on later in the game (e.g. for 30 or so minutes).

If Arsene has half a brain cell he'll know that he can't afford to do that.

But if Arsenal are say two goals up by 60 mins, he could then be subbed without doing anything.

Arsenal are average without him.

He has to be rested at some point though.

Yes the FA Cup 3rd round is the obvious time to rest him if need be.

There's not a cat in hells chance he will be benched against QPR. He will play 90 mins unless injured.

Arsenal play again 2 days later so it wouldn't be unimaginable if RVP for one gets a rest in one of those games, record or no record...

Hence the upcoming game, with only a few days rest in between and seemingly more winnable without RvP than Fulham away I would reckon.

Arsenal play 2 games in 3 days, absolutely no chance RVP will start both. My bet is he'll be rested against QPR with Fulham away being the tougher fixture.

Just throwing it out there but if Henry did come back on loan he would be available for Fulham leaving van Persie free to play against QPR.

Sat result against Wolves messes up Wengers plans for resting him IMO, QPR is just as important as Fulham, you could argue that he could also be better rested against Fulham who are at home and who will not park the bus like away teams do at The Emirates which means there will be more space to hit them on the break.

Arsenal supporters (well most I sit around) have given up trying to second guess and figure out Wenger, bringing Chamakh and Arshavin on when trying to find a goal says it all, rule nothing out, he could quite easily play 60 mins of both.

Looking at QPR's fixtures, in the space of 7 days they have Swansea (a), Arsenal (a) and Norwich (h). Two six-pointers and one 'possibly-one-pointer'. If they plan to put up less of a fight against Arsenal, how will that affect RVP's playing time?
I'd say he gets 30-60 minutes - probably in the second half but with the whole team focused on setting up goals for him.

And that's what they shouldn't do. He will get his share of chances anyway by the way Arsenal plays. Didn't this sort of "play everything to one player" also mess up Berbatov's chances of becoming sole top scorer last season?

They should get in Podolski IMO, he'll be straight in my team.

Lol you could stick the worlds best centre back outside the premier league there and he'd struggle.

Henry confirmed.

Thinking this may see RVP rested, less mins or playing in a more wide position, Gervhino will be missing for about a month.

Its a brave man who would take him out though.

For those of you who cba to read beyond the headline of Neiler's link:

Quote:
Wenger admits the club's all-time leading scorer is not yet fit to make an immediate return.
"I think he needs two good weeks work, he is here to help out. No-one expects him to be what he was 10 years ago. There's no special pressure," he said.
"We are concious that he is 34 years old and he will be just enough for us. He is here to help, when we need him he will play."
Wenger is confident that Henry and Robin van Persie could easily line-up together, adding: "When they play together we will do very well, they are two good players who can give the ball and score so why would they not work together well?"
It is believed Henry could make his debut against Leeds later this month, but Wenger admits he still hopes to have Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh available before they depart for the African Cup of Nations.
"Gervinho and Chamakh could be available for Leeds, but only if we get an agreement," he said.

If he rotates nicely with Ba price wise, or in and around i may go for him, surely at 34 he couldnt be priced more then 8 mill.

Looking likely that RVP will play against QPR. Hopefully 90 mins......

Wenger is keen to protect his star striker after a career hampered by injuries and will assess the Dutchman’s fitness after Saturday’s match at Emirates Stadium.

“It will be difficult,” said Wenger. “He will play tomorrow, then we will assess the situation with him on Sunday and Monday morning and make a decision.

“I don’t rule it out but he’s one of the players who has played a lot and you see again, against Wolves on Tuesday, he’s the guy who gives absolutely everything in every game at the moment.
