its not exactly a late breaking bulletin, but rooney's injury has to be a wakeup call for myself and others that have used their transfer already this week. transferring players 10 minutes before the deadline has to be the way to go.

i know it doesn't cover all the bases (fabregas could get injured training on sunday morning and most of us would lose our captain bonus for the week and there wouldn't be a single thing anyone could do about it )

also anyone with rooney, surely it has to be either ronaldo/drogba to protect the money while he's away??

That is my tactic in most games (TFF etc) but in FPL you have to balance thte minor risk of injury with the budget considerations. If you are selling a donkey and jumping on a bandwagon (as most of us are) you can save/make at least 0.2m by doing it early. Watching the predicted price changes thread and timing it accordingly must be the tactic to use.

Would be interested to hear views of experienced FPL nerds, I mean pros

Do you wait, at least until after non counting midweek games?

I agree with what murf just said.

I don't think you should ever make a change before a 2 week long international break, and it often pays to wait for midweek games to be played to gauge injuries and possible team selections. But in some cases you do need to get on the bandwagon.

Given that most of the trading occurs just after the games are played and just before a new round commences, if you've missed that one day window after the round of play, then you might as well make your changes on a friday before the games are played and transfer activity starts hotting up (if you want to balance price rises and information about player selections/injuries)

however knowledge is power. There are great parallels between FPL and the financial trade industry (especially share/stock trading) and in both of these fields, its all about increasing the amount of information you have about the team/company you want to buy (shares/stocks in). Leaving trading till the last minute is a way to do this.

When you look at the top players in each league or even worldwide. They don't necessarily have the most money. I have seen guys do EXTREMELY well on only 102m by the end of the season and wasted me when I had 104. And on the flipside, Ive seen people with 108m who have only gotten to about 200,000th place. Its not about the money, its all about knowing who to buy and sell, and waiting till the last minute (in most cases) is a way of doing this
