Hi,

This time last year I did a RMT and the feedback I got from Kdub and co helped me to my best ever season and winning my F&E League.

I took some advice, and ignored a bit too, but it was more that the debate really helped me crystallise and confirm what I really wanted to do.

This year I’ve gone for the same tactic that served me well last time. Five big attacking players (Drogba/Tevez/Lampard/Fabregas/Arteta) backed up by a team of mid-price players who will play every week and chip in with goals, assists and cleanies.

Very keen to hear your thoughts.

GK Van Der Sar 4.7

FB Carr 3.5
FB Baines 4.1
FB Bale 4.4

CB Cahill 3.5
CB Shawcross 3.7
CB Dunne 4.1

MF Guedioura 3.2
MF Petrov 3.6
MF N'Zogbia 3.8
MF Dunn 3.8
MF Arteta 4.3
MF Fabregas 6.2
MF Lampard 6.9

ST Tevez 7.3
ST Drogba 7.9

75.0

Note: If Schwarzer goes to Arsenal or Figuerola to Liverpool they’ll come in for Carr and/or Cahill.

GK Van Der Sar 4.7 too heavily rotated (especially vs weaker teams)

FB Carr 3.5 solid
FB Baines 4.1 could be a must have
FB Bale 4.4 just got lucky last season

CB Cahill 3.5 eh?
CB Shawcross 3.7 always a decent choice
CB Dunne 4.1 safe pick

MF Guedioura 3.2 eh?
MF Petrov 3.6 eh?
MF N'Zogbia 3.8 insomnia is a consistent 30 point/per season man
MF Dunn 3.8 the glass man ruined my season last year
MF Arteta 4.3 not much better than Tim Cahill
MF Fabregas 6.2 Sex might be a great
MF Lampard 6.9 seems in a funk and might be better to go with DB

ST Tevez 7.3 mr popular at the moment
ST Drogba 7.9 probably in 80% of the teams so no risk in having him

75.0

Note: If Schwarzer goes to Arsenal or Figuerola to Liverpool they’ll come in for Carr and/or Cahill.

GK Van Der Sar 4.7 agree, will be rested often

FB Carr 3.5
FB Baines 4.1
FB Bale 4.4 fine, has been scoring pre-season even when not in midfield

CB Cahill 3.5 very risky with Bolton's defence's history, but they have good early games and been decent pre-season (for what that's worth)
CB Shawcross 3.7
CB Dunne 4.1

MF Guedioura 3.2 no idea if he'll start but fair enough choice for that price, has potential
MF Petrov 3.6 going to do great
MF N'Zogbia 3.8
MF Dunn 3.8 will do well enough until he gets injured, but deffo worth having until then
MF Arteta 4.3
MF Fabregas 6.2
MF Lampard 6.9

ST Tevez 7.3 all the rumours of new strikers at City and possible rotation mean i'm staying away from him for now
ST Drogba 7.9

Thanks guys!

Very useful.

Petrov I feel will be brilliant this year. Whenever he's fit, he scores points - and he'll take all free-kicks for Bolton too. Cahill is in because of Bolton's strong defence in pre-season - although I admit is a huge risk. Tevez, I've gone back and forth on, but surely he's the one guy who won't be rotated? Plus takes pens. Tough fixtures though to start.

Frank Lampard gets written off every year, and every year amasses a ton of points. I think the golden rule has to be always include him. I won my F&E league last year, partly due to his massive haul and others choosing Chelsea defenders instead of Lamps/Drog combination.

I think the biggest weakness in my team is Van Der Sar in goal, as you've both identified. But I can't see a way to get a Man Utd into my team otherwise and I feel I should have one. Any ideas?

Also any 'must haves' you feel are missing from my team?

Also any 3.5 defender spots that could replace Cahill or Carr if I bottle them?

One option would be VDS and Baines  Howard and Evra/Vidic, although not one I'd go for as I think Baines will score really well.

Another option (if you weren't specific about your Man U having to be a defender) could be VDS and N'Zogbia  Gomes/Friedel and Nani ?

The only others I'd consider are Craddock and Zubar, on the basis that Mick McCarthy made Wolves pretty defensive towards the end of last season (had a sequence of 0-0s), but even that's pushing it a bit

Thanks again reds363.

Given the concerns seem to be around Van Der Sar, Tevez and my 3.2 Wolves enabler - plus I hear Carr has a bad toe.

How about...

OUT - Van Der Sar, Carr, Dunne, Guedioura, Tevez

IN - Fridel, Warnock, Dann, Charlie Adam, Rooney

Does leave me with no 'Big 5' defenders, but a very strong midfield attack.

Adam is a risk but takes free-kicks and pens for Blackpool. Anyone better for 3.6-3.7?
