Ok, this week has been an emotional one. I have a 5 week old baby, a girlfriend still full of hormones, and im generally tired. Last week I was going forth and back about what trannies wich would be best. Either Kompany / Agbonlahor for the two free -> Yaks and Bale. Or the simple Agbonlahor -> Adebayor. I took a boatcruise last week, and spent 500 Norwegian crones, aprox 50 british pounds on making my trannies. As the satellite network on my phone was sick expensive!
(Thanks SuperHans for giving me inspiration for his name. He’s first name will be Hans

Picking names for children has been even harder than when I picked my nick when I was 14. Xander was chosen, simply because t though Vin Diesel was so cool in the triple X movie.)
As we all know, Kompany Scored, Ade scored twice, and I had my worst game week after scratching myself into the 10k slowly, I fell 10k in 1 week. Being tired, I was itching my fingers for double and triple trannies in rage. And I only mad ONE –4 transfer all season. I almost pulled the trigger with a Kun and Sess to Ade and Bale trannie. Once again I sit back and think through it better, and let the Carling Cup be played before I hurry into a descision. –4’s are worth it very few times. Waiting a week and making a free double are in my experience a better option.
I just want to share some thoughts about what affects our performance, as managers of our fantasy teams. I want to relate this to Poker. Something I played a lot in the years, until 10 months ago when much changed.
This post will be more like an article on the mental sides as a FPL manager from my side.
Tiredness, combined and resulting with TILT. Tilt means you do stupid stuff, after for example having a bad bead in poker, or having a really poor game week in FPL.
I stepped down playing poker the last 10 months. I was a winning player, and had a better salary playing poker than at work, and I have normal + Norwegian salary. One of the main reasons was that my girlfriend got pregnant. Hormonal, tired, and me having to do 80% of the work in the house, aside a fulltime-job, playing soccer and working out. Before that I had all the time in the world. I see clear result on my ROI graph ( I use a poker tracking program who tracks my results) that I play poorer in periods witch are stressfull. ROI = Return Of Investment. You can keep tracks on how much you spent during a month, and how much you gained. If you have a positive ROI over time, every month, every year, you are a winning player. So now I quit as the return would be a lousy salary, and I don’t have the spare time for it.
One of my strengths in poker and FPL are tilt-management. I rarly go on tilt in poker, and if I do, its not for long. Main focus is playing ABC to gain money. It’s the same in FPL, play ABC and do the best decisions! There are 2,6 millions FPL managers. Lets say 1,6 million rarely check their accounts, 700k are semi active, 200k are active, 100k are active and reads various forums or are very interested in PL. The reason some ends up In the top every year is a small part luck, and a big part skills. Of the 100k active ones, x %, maybe 50% ( I don’t know) are people who are affected to tilt. Do stupid transfers in rage early in the game week. This can be ok if there are money to be made, but if that’s not the case you have a problem
Conclusion from me: If your are stressed, you do bad mistakes and perform worse. Look at FPL as a game where you want to perform best at all times, and don’t let your emotions take control over what trannies you make. Be objective.
