Jamie Mackie, a good cheapie bet for many a fantasy side IMHO, won't make the start of the season after his nasty leg break against Blackburn last season.

"We visited the surgeon again last week for a check-up, and it appears the fracture site itself needs a little more time to heal, so we need to be careful. It's a mother-nature thing more than anything else. There is nothing Jamie could have done which would have helped speed up this part of the process, it is simply a case of waiting for the bone to heal. It means Jamie's target will have to be adjusted but the good thing is that he is a naturally fit lad and very strong."

I was thinking Hogan could be an interesting prospect after scoring four goals last week, thoughts on him? Does not really seem to score any goals or assists normally but does he have potential? Also, will he be a regular starter?

I have him penciled in, but it remains to be seen what role he plays. If Taarabt goes, as now disappointingly seems likely, Hogan could be a regular in the team, but then we now have Dyer so not sure on that one. I think he is a quality player actually, but of course has no Prem experience.

Thanks for that J as I know I've got him in one team somewhere - it's now a matter of finding which one

It is great news that Taarabt is staying. Obviously as a QPR fan I wanted him to stay but also intrigued how he will fair in the Prem. It does mean that Hogan Ephraim now will only play bit parts I believe.

Jay Bothroyd limped out of a game against Plymouth last week but should be fine, apparently. Shaun Derry also took a nasty knock but again should be ok for the trip to Italy this week.

QPR have signed Danny Gabbidon on a one year contract. Not a terribly bad signing really. Good Prem experience although I am not sure how he will slot in. If we can get DJ Campbell in and maybe one other experienced player, I will rest a bit more easy in bed at nights, although we could do with a new mattress. :?

It seems that DJ Campbell will be flying out to see Neil Warnock during QPR's 3 match tour of Italy this week. Sounds promising that the on-off transfer could finally be happening.

By the way, I just heard that QPR is offering Gorkss to Southampton, to get winger Puncheon from them. Its not official news, but still , I didnt see this coming. What are your thoughts about this?

I don't watch QPR week in week out by any means, but Gorkss has always worried me, and with Shittu and Gabbidon signed for a season, maybe this is a good move. First I have heard anything of it though. I know knothing about Puncheon....?

Edit: Gorkss has travelled with the squad to Italy, whereas those unlikely to feature much this season have been left behind. Read into that what you will.

Bid for DJ Campbell accepted. If this goes through, and I really hope it does, then this is great news because along with Gabbidon, it adds some much needed Prem experience - and Campbell helped me to £200 in the OFL Sprint Final last May :D

And finally the deal is done. Coming together quite nicely now. Not all complete doom and gloom, but QPR don't have a great deal of depth so we need to avoid injuries.

It looks like QPR had a really solid defense last year. I'm thinking about adding Gorkss. Does he get forward at all and take shots? Is he a threat on set pieces?

Having looked their defensive record was good. Then again defending against Premiership standard requires a different criteria.

I still can't work out the starting 11 for QPR, and the defence is hardest to predict. Last season Gorkss scored only 3 goals, and was the top scoring defender! We just don't get many from that area of the field, and virtually zero assists from the left or right backs. If you want defensive points from QPR, it will need to be through clean sheets :?

Going by pre-season Gorkss should start, but then it is still being banded around that he could be part of an exchange deal for a Blackpool player :? Paddy Kenny was largely responsible for the lack of goals conceded last season I reckon, although I didn't watch them week in, week out - the man is an incredible shot stopper.

Thanks for the insight so far. I've got QPR in the block party TFF side game so will relying heavily on this thread over the next 9 months. Keep the tips coming please and best of luck for the coming season.

True, but I picked up Barton and Carroll last year based on stats from the Champ. league and that worked out fairly well, thank you very much. :D

Unless he changes his style for the Prem, Warnock likes to keep much the same starting 11 each week. Thanks for the good luck wishes. If we can survive this season we could settle in for a long Premiership stay :D

He was at Millwall last season, I think, and did OK.

By all accounts, the 11 who started the final friendly of the season against Luton town last night will be those who start against Bolton next week:

Kenny; Dyer, Hall, Gabbidon, Hill; Derry, Faurlin; Smith, Taarabt, Campbell; Bothroyd.
The bench: Cerny, Orr, Connolly, Perone, Ephraim, Buzsaky, Vaagen Moen, Doughty, Andrade, Helguson, Agyemang, Hewitt.

No sign of Gorkss  Dyer started as right back but moved into midfield with Buzsaky during the second half where, by all accounts, he looked excellent. Rave reviews for Gabbidon, too. Bring on Bolton 8-)

QPR lost 3-1, but the goals came in the second half after Warnock made 9 changes. DJ scored after 29 seconds :D

Is the popular Orr not good enough for Premier league then?...Dyer at RB surely can't last!

Orr was always a doubt in my mind, even before Dyer arrived, but that was just a personal opinion and not based on who would take his place. Dyer could actually be a bit of a diamond this season in that position if he stays fit.
