The UK authorities have banned Press tv, no more detailed coverage of things like 'occupy wallstreet' showing the American police doing their stuff, or reports from American ghettos or headline coverage of the UK unemployment figures, or reports on Jamaica wanting to drop the Queen as the head of State when it was barely covered over here.

If you take the view that our media can be a bit one eyed then Press tv would often give you the other side of the same coin, for coverage of things like Bin Ladens death or the war in Afghanistan, you get a different perspective, i dont know why Press tv was banned but how is Fox tv allowed in the UK ?, it is atleast the opposite equivalent of Press tv, infact some would say far worse than Press tv.

Looks like i will now have to watch Al-Jazeera if i want a non Westernised take on the news [lots of people seem to give their news a good name] and that Russian station to see what Max Keiser has to say about the financial world.

Never heard of it.

How about giving us a balanced view by telling us what it was banned for (preferably using the official wording).

From Wiki:

"..Press TV is state-funded[12] and is a division of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

The annual budget of Press TV is 250 billion rials (more than 25 million US dollars).[13]

Press TV broadcasts news reports and analyses which are close to the official position of the Iranian government, and its programmes are monitored and regulated by the Islamic Republic....

Iran based.......from their site:

Many observers, however, believe that the British government's hostile campaign against Press TV has its roots in the channel's extensive and transparent coverage of the role the British government played in the killing of tens of thousands of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They have also noted this behavior is quite natural for a government with more than 400 years of colonialist background filled with breaches of people's rights, murder, and plundering various nations' assets.

“Well now the whole world can see that flag that you (UK government) are showing on the screen now is a flag of hypocrisy not democracy,” Galloway concluded.

Seems well balanced to me.

I dont know why its banned, George Galloway and Tony Blairs sister in-law had a show on there and James Whale and Ken Livingstone have been presenters on there in the past, they also had Andrew Gilligan on there at one time.
