The Racing Post publishes a 64-page guide to the English football season on Wednesday 2 August.

Besides detailed betting odds, tips and predictions covering each division, the supplement has historically included forecasts of the starting line up of every Premiership club.

Sounds good.

Do any of the 'online sites' have a starting line-up prediction?

The Sportsman produced a Scottish Premier League preview on Friday 28 July.

According to its website last week, the supplement covering the lower leagues should be published on Friday 4 or Saturday 5 August. Confirmation is still pendng.

Thurs 3 Aug – League 1 and 2 previews

Fri 4 – Championship preview; French League preview

Fri 11 – Conference preview

Thurs 17 – Premiership team-by-team guide

Fri 18 – Premiership tipping and analysis

Yes, Racing Post pre-season guide makes good reading even if Premiership club line up predictions aren't included this year.

Wonder if this might be due to early publication, ie, it's 17 days to the big boys' kick off. Shall contact the editor again and report back if a more detailed EPL supplement is scheduled nearer Sat 19 August.

As an aside, I cannot believe such a high-profile website will not display properly in Opera, viz the menu bar at the top of the Indie website.

It makes his International record of 17 goals in 57 games all the more baffling. Having weighed up his CK status i decided it was best to leave him out.

For comparison purposes in TFF without assists/motm/cards his 05/06 would put him on 81 points which probably is not the sort of return most will be looking for to justify his price tag as he is pricey in all games.

I guess it depends on how he is used, if his role for Dortmund was primarily to fire in crosses then he maybe didn't get the goals he was capable of - the Arsenal style is more about fast attacking moves, generally involving Henry but with any of the four strikers/wide players likely candidates to finish them off.

I suppose that's one of the things about CK's, it's hard to know what to read into their stats.

Anyone spotted a footie supplement in the Sunday papers that might be of interest?

For info, have found the previews in the Guardian (due Mon 6 Aug) and the Racing Post (Wed 8 Aug) both useful in previous seasons.

Thanks for the tip. I bought the Racing Post today and it is quite informative.

Not a supplement exactly, but The Sun on Saturday has a fixtures booket, which whilst out-of-date (TV date changes etc) last year was a small and handy size to carry around.

I found it useful for spotting when Prem clubs had a run of either good or bad fixtures.

The Big Kick-Off in today's Racing Post is larger (at 72 pages) than previous previews.

Not the best thing to buy on your way to work, well not good for your employer anyway

If I have already bought other newpapers guides with fixture lists etc, is it still worth getting the racing post one? is does it just repeat what allready has been seen?

Might be a bit late to buy a copy now but yes, I think it is. It gives lots of betting insights, i.e. hard-nosed opinion. A lot is repeated from elsewhere but I definitely found it worth £1.50.
