Got a text from Pa102aw - he's having problems with his computer & is asking for help.


'I keep getting pop ups with what appears to be a fake Windows security logo telling me my computer is under attack. When I click on it, it takes me to a website where I am asked to 'purshase' [their spelling not mine] their anti virus program. It has locked all my program's including Internet Explorer. When I click on anything, I get a warning that visiting this website may harm your computer, order our anti-virus now.

Oddly enough the only program I can access is my own anti virus software (avast) which comes up clean.'


Looks like Pa's been at the Porn again

Thanks very much AKNel, (not sure about the thread title though) The panic is now over and I am up and running again thanks to Vid. He sent me a text on my mobile telling me to reboot my PC and hit the F8 button during reboot and select 'Safe Mode with Networking' from the Safe Mode Options. After doing this he told me to download and run 'Malwarebytes', which I did and it got rid of 6 infections and as you can see I am up and running again.

Funnily enough all of this kicked off just after I had opened and read a PM from Dot. mmmm
