:(
I wonder whether it's just me being a social paraiah or that this season has far far far less FISO side games going on? Last season I remember being part of at least 7 FISO games, yet this season seems so slow, sluggish and boring.

Where is the football club fans league? No words about the decathlon yet? The Vampires competition is no more? ...and don't even get me started on rumours I have heard about some unbelievably amazing competition involving sailing+GoogleEarth+Romyn's management.

What gives :?:

Most games do not start at the start of the season - launching later in the season

The FPL cup will launch after the international break :D expect an announcement any day following a successful delivery from my graphics supplier.

The FPL Wimbledon singles has been re-launched.

Koltomoy seems to have stopped posting which is a shame as he had some well run and innovative games. (Vampires). Nothing to stop someone taking it over.

Not sure what Mystery's plans are for the decathalon.

Romyn's Google earth game was quite unique!

Haha... smug gits.

I have several raw ideas but nothing worth bothering the masses here with yet.
Most prominent was along the lines of a Cup based (ie knockot), H2H, Team Median score for the consistency prize.

I will almost certainly be running something next season. I have a number of other ideas for next season as well, maybe we should have a 'workshop' at the end of the season, a bit like Mao's Hundred Flower Campaign. I think making it easier/explaining how easy it is to grab data from FPL might encourage more people.

I was thinking of doing a simple game this season... and then doing something reasonably elaborate next season. But got really busy early season and could not commit the time.

I will be happy to do the pick quick this season. Is it too late to start? Do I have to take permission from Maccaroon? do suggest.

I doubt it, a much missed comp IMHO.

Why not take on the Vampires comp seeing as it was so good it would be a shame to let it disappear in the absence of Kotty? I know it's a bit more difficult b/c he's not around to give permission but I'd like to think he'd be honoured that it was so well liked.

Macca himself said that he didn't mind if someone took over:

I don't think missing the first 3 GW's critical at all as we'd all be starting from the same point giving us all an equal chance to win.

No plans for the decathlon from me. My interest in FPL kind of went just before the season started.

As it was Kotlomoy's creation only last season,I feel it would be wrong for someone else to take it over without his agreement,at least for a season.
He has a highly technical position in Russian military aviation, which may have seen him posted to a location from which he has restricted internet access (to Fiso at least).
Whilst the suggestion is well intentioned,it does present a risk that he might be very upset rather than honoured to find someone else running his game if and when he returns to Fiso,so I don't feel it would be fair to take that risk for the time being.

The FISOlympic Committee is currently in session but word has it that the 5th FISOlympic Decathlon is likely to take place. GW6/7 looks a possible place to start the process of selecting the Host City, with the first Event (100m) taking place in GW10.

Athletes wishing to take part need to keep an eye out for registration before the competition begins. Your name and country you are representing will probably be the minimum requirement.

... or so I've heard

Birds of a feather, 5LB

It's just that I remember when he first joined Fiso that he got moved from Moscow to the Urals where his internet connection was both unstable and very expensive.

I've spent time in that part of the world myself and know how difficult communication can be. He's unlikely to be able to play FF games whilst working,as being engaged in aircraft optronics doesn't provide much scope for playing computer games at the same time !

I'm guessing that he'll return to Moscow, and therefore to Fiso,in due course from wherever he is presently based - unless he's been despatched permanately to the salt mines in Siberia of course !

I'm sure he'll be pleased to discover his Vampires game has been missed though :D

Please remember that Puffin Island belongs to Wales, not Ireland

It's good to hear that the hosting of this event will soon be put out to tender again,as Mystery's bid was successful last season against fierce competition from Israel I recall - maybe they'll be throwing their hat in the ring again for 2010-11 ?

Similar to Vampire was that Wrestling comp from some seasons ago. I'm actually surprised we don't have an 'Elimination League' - the lowest score(s) is booted out each week until there's two left in in GW38.

@Ironfist: you could always have a go at AKNel1's higher lower game. We predicted whether he would score higher or lower than last GW, you just have to advise us of changes to your side each GW.

(Points at the start, and bet higher/lower each week.)

I couldn't bother with all that trouble.
Maybe I'll just post my password here on the FISO forums and each week allow another fisoer to make the transfers for me. Then we can see who made the best changes at the end of the season.

Had a chat with Maccaroon, and he has been most gracious in allowing me to be the custodian of Pick Quick for the season.

So Pick Quick will be back! Starting from GW4, and not in anyway different from the previous seasons.

Well done baganboy for providing continuity of this excellent little side game - especially as it means you'll now have to wait until everyone else has picked before you can do so, to maintain the game's tradition established by Maccaroon

Oh absolutely! in fact, I know that I am horrid at this game, thus will focus on conducting this. My pick will be the last. :)

Great to hear that Pick Quick will be back - I loved its simplicity. I'm still ducking and diving so may not be able to participate regularly, though. :(

Just a thought, but I wondered if we might not devise a decent game around 'Killer', the pool game? Three lives per season/round, guess your top player each week? Something like that.

I'm too much a vagrant to run anything this year, but offer the idea up to ay who whould care to expand on it. :)

Or ..... someone could search for a new Pepinho!
