Portsmouth seemed to have had a good run defensively in the pre-season conceding only 2 goals and winning all games.

Yeovil v Portsmouth WIN 0-2
Havant & Waterlooville v Portsmouth WIN 0-2
Eastleigh v Portsmouth WIN 0-1
Portsmouth v Fulham (Asia Cup) WIN 1-0
Liverpool v Portsmouth (Asia Cup Final) DRAW 0-0, WIN 2-4 pens
Bournemouth v Portsmouth WIN 1-4
Newport IoW v Portsmouth WIN 0-7
Leicester v Portsmouth WIN 1-3

I have seen on the forum that general opinion is that Portsmouth will not be as definsivly sound this season. What are thoughts on this? Has anyone considered a PO defender, if so who?

for me the thing is they have a difficult run of fixtures to start so I'll wait until that's over, by which time it should be evident who's playing and who isn't.
I think that for the price they'll be value for money, as over the whole season I expect them to keep plenty of clean sheets, but not in the first few GWs

Nemo has said it all,

Pompey is turning to a club that is going to fight for those European qualifying seats. They have a strong experienced backline with David James behind them. The only problem is that they will be playing all the top 4 teams within their first 6 GWs.

Once they pass that stage,,, they will be good picks.

Nobody has it easy to start even Reading's first 3 are Man U Everton Chelsea but I bet a lot of you have Ingimarsson or Shorey at the back - it seems the lower clubs like Wigan Fulham Boro and even Birmingham have some 'nice' fixtures at the beginning. That probably doesn't help at all...
