Good Evening Ladies and Gents!

This is aimed more at posters who are either parents or aunts/uncles. Can I ask your opinion on the following items? My fiancee and her mother have been making these and selling them on Ebay for the last 3 years. Have received 399 x positive feedback in that time, 100% positive.

We are looking to ramp up business a little and today I (acting as self appointed sales and marketing director of Personally4You) started up a business page on Facebook.
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/page ... 5056063799

I am interested in your thoughts, all feedback is appreciated.
Thanks :)

It's the kind of thing that kids love.
Is it possible for kids to personalize the signs?
Kids go through stages of things they like and don't like so it would be good if they could change things on the sign as their likes and dislikes changed.

Good fun - agree that the key to this is to get kids involved in design/options

Good food for thought. At the moment they don't come so that the kids can do it themselves. But it could be an avenue for the future.

In all honesty, we are trying to keep production costs low, so that we don't have to charge a fortune.

One of Mrs Richt's mates does the same type of thing, but really goes OTT and charges £25 per plaque. We sell ours at £8 with free P&P. Much more reasonable and affordable imo.

At the moment they are made to our customers specifications, so the kids/parents etc do have all of the input.

Cheers young man!

We totally agree with A and B, we were in a bit of a rush to get them online today so took them quickly. After reading your suggestions, we are going to lay them out on a white bedsheet and take snaps of them by our big front window. (or something).

C - good suggestion. D - would that be a show stopper you? They have to be attached to the doors / walls somehow. (no more nails could work I suppose).

E - as I mentioned in response to Surprised post, this could have potential in future. See how this kicks off. (the mrs has just mentioned that a number of our customers (and 2 order placed today) are from new parents, so irrelevant having a kid make his/her own.

Thanks everyone so far.

Apparently this has already been tried. They approached a local pre-school last year and asked to advertise on the premises and for each sale they would make a donation of £1 to the preschool funds. No sales were forthcoming though. But it's worth trying again as my mrs is now living with me, in a different town from before.

You can mention in the description that they can be screwed to the doors. Maybe offer cheap plastic screw covers with the name plaques? This may add too much to the cost though.

fwiw the only items that comes with screw holes are the coat hooks. The door plaques are free from holes.

(sorry for misleading, I am new to the company)

Offer both front and back screw fixings, stains make it, give the middle class choice of stains in a little pot and they will love it

To be honest I personally don't like them. But when aunts uncles and other rellies etc need to buy a pressie its the sort of thing they go for - providing you get the pricing right.

Selling kits removes the added value provided by Mrs Biscuit, and hence profit - assuming the kits are provided with just the desired letters, and at less cost.

Put "pretend" vat on the prices, if you\she\they think the limit is reachable.

Make it P&P free if more than one are bought. (The pretend vat will cover this.)

You can't put 'pretend' vat on your prices unless you intend to send it on to the tax man.

Unless you fancy a nice fine?

Thanks to David Nuttie and Andy Waring - you know why :)

Stanley, I appreciate your feedback. I realise that they aren't everyone's cup of tea. OI think our main target audience are doting mums, grannies and other sentimental women.

Blahblah, we don't have any P&P charges anyway. But thanks for your input, Trish want's to continue making them as opposed to sending out the packs. Personally, if this kicks off bigger than it has done in previous years I think it could be a nice little sideline.

I did not mean to pretend to claim it was vat, just factor it in now.

Doesn't need it wasn't a good idea. Just the way it was done. Sit and watch parents coming in to get their kids and not surprisingly they won't be looking at the walls so posters are not going to be effective.

A good leaflet though stapled to a letter from the nursery which is being given out or in their school daily bag would be great.

Nurseries also collect contact info: emails and addresses, gold dust!

Then you could offer to give one as a prize to one of the kids (free donation obviously) for good work or behaviour (this is common in infant schools and nurseries) then once the Mums see it and the kid loves it it does its own jealously marketing and they get to see the product.

That was how it was done, although it was selotaped to a letter not stapled as you cant give anything stapled to a 2 or 3 year old

We appreciate your comments though, keep them coming :)
