That can't be right. Can it? With all the site problems and difficulty entering teams this year? There was only about 30k entries last year. Doesn't make sense. I have a bad feeling about this.

Free teams make a huge difference, the Sun has over 1.3m entries, but they get all 5 TWs as well. 80-90k free teams with no transfers are no threat in YTM, just space fillers that can't win a bean.

Unless everyone bought the free transfers for 3 quid with the teams in which cases the teams are competetive.
Nice to see Rui in top 100 still with all the changes though :D

I don't have a problem if it's just free teams. It still seems a lot though. Maybe I'm getting paranoid, but the first thing that crossed my mind was the dreaded T word. The site is so basic he would have no problem using his Taminataor here. I can't see it being cost effective though, so it probably is just the free team factor.

Hi Achiles74, how do you know I am in the top 100? I can see only teams in top 250 but not manager´s name... :o

just going by previous team names you use Rui

Destiny5
Love7
etc etc etc

Not saying those are your team names but when I see a team name in this fashion I can make a fairly good guess it is yours.

Even with the free entries i can't believe that there are 115,000+ entries.

Don't like the fact that you can't see the manager names either and can't see why they allow managers to change team names.

All in all though i'd say Silent Manager deserves a lot of credit so far. There have been a lot of complaints but so far i think they've done a good job. Lets hope they keep it up.

This is a piece of complete and utter fiction - I'd be surprised if there are actually more than 25,000 genuine and active entries.

1. It's now clear that it is not possible to have a single, free, active team - unless it is one of the teams awarded to those who finished from 10-50 last season.

2. The Site has been so slow, buggy, non-intuitive and downright hard to use that I can only imagine YTM veterans having the will to persist with the registration, team selection and payment processes. I really can't see how any newbies or casuals would have been motivated to spend hours jumping through hoops - particularly as the prizes are lower than last seasoan and it's tough to pick a team of well-known players in budget (not saying that this is a bad feature - but it's hardly going to entice the masses).

3. The sQUID payment system is obviously dodgy - they've ripped me off to the sum of 11 pounds which I paid for 3 teams which are still not active and therefore useless for seasonal purposes, and I doubt if I'm the only person currently chasing shadows.

...but, if anyone can give me a solid reason why a massively inferior Web Site, no signficant drop in entry fees and lower prizes would result in an increase in numbers from 30k to 115k (way beyond the 75k who played when the 1st price was 125k), I will be glad to re-think my opinion.

Advertising. Free team offered - or so it seems without reading the small print.

Mr joe public sees the free team advertised, and thinks might enter, and pay for transfers later if he (or she) has a good start. Which he or she probably hasn't had, as there weren't any home wins on the opening weekend.

Anyway, main point, assuming payment issues are mostly sorted, must be server reliability - see other thread running the same argument at the moment.

Not convinced by that - at all. So far, the evidence is that the only free teams that have been activated are the prize ones from last year's competition.

If there were 115k active teams using anytime transfers, the Site would probably be on its knees at the key stages - given that it does full post backs and page refreshes when scrolling through player lists.

There clearly aren't 100k+ teams.

Consider Joey Barton was by far the most picked player i'd say the stats are way off.

I'd guess 20,000 tops.

Be interesting to see when they got rid of them. No reason they should be there at all.

Go to "league" > minileagues > full league, and pick one near the bottom of the list, with lots of entries - click on that and you'll find it's in position 70,000 or so. You may find some right at the bottom on 0 points; they might count towards the 115000 figure, but haven't been "activated" or had any players picked.

What the tables don't show is how many of these are teams that have been paid for i.e. have transfers. That figure may well be less than 20,000, but i can't see how to check just yet.

Possibly when they feel that they've fooled The Mirror into believing that they've been responsible for quadrupling the number of entries this season. They've already managed to convince them that they can run a major FF game, so I'm guessing that this is the next step in the Grand Plan.

Hi there everyone,

I can tell you that active user numbers are currently at a smidge over 120,000 active teams. We understand that it's been a steep learning curve in the free to play market and very different from the other 100,000 team + game we have run, but we feel that taking on your feedback has been invaluable, and we are now in a really good position regarding future P2P models.

If anybody does feel that they have been ripped off by the sQuid system, please contact Games Management on: 0844 8804 573
and they will be happy to look in to it for you.

Many thanks.

That's a pity. In absence of a bottom of the league table, that must mean there must be a smidge under 2000 teams with less than -9. I'd hoped it'd be a lot less than that.

No way in the world is there 2000 teams with less than -9.

If they are claiming that then they are just making the numbers up.

Probably less than 50 teasm with worse than -9.

The whole 120,000 thing is pure nonsense anyway. Its obviously just full of randomly entered teams (probably from HQ itself itself) most of whom seem to have included Joey Barton. Pure nonsense.

This is why there are over 100k entries. Check out the October monthly table before it gets taken down. There's a glitch which means it's showing random teams at the moment and not the actual monthly leaders..

There are multiple duplicate teams teams in the top 250 with these names, :

Mr Tom Carter
Mr Matt Arnold
Mr John Dmoo
Mr joi oijoi
Miss pokopk pokpo
Mr ijio joij
Mr ouihoijo ijoi
Mrs ;lk;lk ;lk;lk
Mr doga doga
Mr Chow Yun-Fat
Mrs jkkjhkj kjhkjh

Now check out the silentmanager site. You will find Tom Carter and Matt Arnold there.

http://www.silentworld.tv/contact.aspx

There could be a plausible explanation why there are so many duplicate teams entered by silentmanager, testing the system or whatever. I'm trying hard to be generous here and not jump to conclusions, but whatever the explanation is, there is clearly not over 100k genuine entrys.

I haven't played the game for two years. I gave up because of the multis. I do have a team in this years game though. SilentManager put me in an automated team without asking me. I logged in out of curiosity after they emailed me telling me I had a team. I guess i'm an active manager despite not picking a team, they just had my details from years past. Wonder how many others are like this?

The only reason I can see them entering an autoteam for me is to bump the numbers.
