Clint77: 1729 points, 351st (Final)
Hog: 1,719 points, 475th (Final)
Crystal P: 1,718 points, 493rd (Final)
Thom: 1,714 points, 558th (Final)

good work boys 8-)

one of the above has jumped ship into the lost, murky world of the multis
but there are always more of us out there :D

how is your team shaping up?
favourite formation?
rvp nailed on to start up front with hart at the back?

That's seriously good results for you boys (and girls), well done.
Would I be right in thinking that as the Tele offer 4 teams for a tenner, that up to 4 teams can be classed as a single entry? It's not like you're a multi if you play 4 teams

Mr Muppet. Not sure if I caount as a single entrant or not.

I have 4 teams, but 3 of them are tied up in specific ruled leagues 1) Tiny - max of 1 player from anyone team, and the team has to be other than the big 6. 2) Egg cup and 3) Hotshots, so purely who scores the most goals.

So, on that thought process, does that make my other team (fpl and tff combo) A single team?

I apologise for going around and around and around and around the houses

I only buy one team - if I bought 4 for a tenner, I'd feel obliged to field 4 teams, when I prefer to focus on one... basically if I bought 4 for £10, £4 would be wasted...

Windy Millers' top position last season was 625 (although finished 4072, 1640 points)

Starting with 4-4-2 with RVP & Hernandez up front but Reina in goal (him being my only sub £4m player in the squad). Still tinkering but will be keep a close eye on Aguero for later in season if that move comes off.

can I return to the fold? Coming back to single entry this year....

My only team is playing for goals in the hot shot league - but I will be a single entrant!

Is this a mini league open for entry?

I am new to the Telegraph game and am religious in only having one team in any comp I enter (also do FPL and VRock n Roll Football games). All about single minded focus.

Be nice to pit my witts against some big hitter early on

It's a single life for me again this year - my tiny mind can only cope with 11 players at a time!

So I know there are strategy discussions going on elsewhere, but for us one teamers what is the ideal strategy? If we can share the perfect ideas we might be able to give the multis a run for their money...

Some things I learnt last year which I will attempt to remember this time round are:

- Avoid taking too many risks in your starting lineup (Boselli  ) or in your transfers (Bentley  ). More often than not they don't work out. If in doubt, do nowt!
- As much as possible fill your team with guaranteed starters and likely point getters then leave them in your team season long (eg Hart, Kompany, RVP, Lampard did the business for me last year). Last year after a couple of months of fiddling around I stumbled across a core of 7 or 8 players which I managed to keep for the rest of the season, barring a few injuries. It meant I could focus my transfers on rotating strikers.
- Don't try and burn transfers rescuing bad weeks, especially FA Cup weekends. Accept you've had a bad week and trust that your team will work out long term. (Obviously this doesn't apply if your team has 5 bad weeks in a row).

Any other pearls of wisdom to share?

whole heap of new single entrants on RMT, which is nice :D
if you didnt know, this thread is where we play the real game together

as far as i can see, which several seasons later, aint very far - without gambling on the blocks we are choosing from pretty small pool

Cech - Hart

Kompany - Clichy/Richards - Baines - Luiz - Agger/Johnson - Riise - Huth

Malouda - Nasri - Young - Toure - Downing - N'Zog - Hoola - Murphy

Rooney - RVP - Suarez

any to add - take out?

I would add Sinclair to the midfielders and Bent to the strikers, but other than that it looks like you've been reading my notes :D

yeah, i was thinking of including Bent, had him at first, but losing his supply puts me off including him in a starting X1,
think the core of our teams is as above
including Sinclair (maybe  )
anyone else

With the added crossing ability at liverpool i'd rate carroll over suarez this season (kuyt in mifield too?)
and as mentioned Bent up front... if you wait norvern you miss his good early fixtures!

Real men play one team.
(Mainly because they can't be arsed to manage any more.)

Welcome back singles. Can't believe the season's here ... mainly because I've no idea who'll even be playing, let alone who will be good.

Some topics:

- Is anyone other than Hart or Cech a safe shout in goal?
- Do any of the pricier midfielders look worthwhile to you? (i.e. Who's this season's VDV, Nani, Malouda...?)
- Considering Suarez, the people's pick, isn't going to play for a while, would you really choose anyone other than RVP and Rooney?

For me, if N'Zog is on the list for consideration then Bent has to be too. I can't see how one can have a good season without the other doing well. In the Braga friendly last night Bent laid the ball off for N'Zog to score according to the Villa website:

http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0 ... 60,00.html

McLeish's management style is definitely a risk though. It's a bit of a gamble, but given Villa's good run of fixtures at the start of the season I'm tempted to start with both - after 4 -6 weeks the form players/bargains should be clearer and I can get rid of these two if necessary.

Decisions, decisions...

Bent is definitely a leading third option in my mind. And with RVP's glass ankles already looking an issue, I'm tempted to consider someone else up front from the beginning of the season. Problem is, while I really like N'Zogs and have him penciled in already, and I agree with your point (if one, why not the other), I'm going to have a hard time putting two players from Alex M's Aston Villa in my XI... Too much uncertainty there to bank on. Think it's one or the other for me, despite their appealing price.

And, btw, generally agree with this list. Not much to choose from this year! No Taarabt though? Price too high, or you put off by his game? Seems to me he's the most likely to emulate Adam in terms of the number of touches he gets. Hoola is likable but not nearly as influential... Also Sinclair though. Am I wrong, or was he really much more of a wing forward last year? Seems to me a bargain stuck in the midfield bracket..

I'm coming back to the fold this year Norvern, last year I had a load of teams took my eye off the ball and lost my superleague.

It made me realise I would rather beat my mates than win money.

So I'm back!

I'll put my team in RMT now if you're interested..........
