thats what those 30 things starting with T are for tommy
now, now and now

ps hope you got a lot of spare cash around
if not, you will also have to downgrade at least 2 midfield (lamps?) / defenders

266 points with one transfer made ( Bent to Aguero yesterday). I'm thinking this is a pretty good start.

So having blown a disgusting amount of transfers (see above) I've at least climbed back up the pub league board and feel reasonably settled for the season. Just one little itch left to scratch: still stuck with Yaya. I'm hesitant to pull the trigger again tomorrow morning but, let's face it, he's not going to score well over the coures of the season. So, transfers spent aside, I can't see how it doesn't make sense to seriously think about a season long replacement right now.

Midfield is currently Silva, Young, Nasri, Yaya, Downing. Have only £.1 spare. I've been thinking of bringing Mata in for a while, and now see that move is being debated across the forum. My logic wasn't his recent form so much as the fact that he looks to me like the obvious successor to Malouda, i.e. dynamic midfield standout for Chelsea, will score a few, takes corners and some free kicks, and to boot looks like their only creative option meaning he'll play more or less every week—with the fact that he looks happy on the left wing or in the hole further reason that he'll stay in the squad despite rotation. Given that, he's underpriced at £4.3, or let's say fairly priced given the question marks. I also liked the fact that Chelsea are somewhat off the radar given the Manchester and Manchester show's prominence. Was thinking he would spice up an otherwise status quo midfield. But maybe everyone is thinking the same (not that that matters).

(Full disclosure: I worry my Mata grab could be influenced by my subconscious regret that Arsenal botched buying him this summer.)

Anyway ... thoughts? Who else do we like in midfield for that price. Could also for example go SWP on the cheap and then bide time and hold cash to make another, bigger move (possibly for dumpy Stu Downing) in the future. Would give me more flexibility coming out of the 3-5-2. But otherwise I'm lacking ideas.

Generally though, Yaya's gotta go, no?

Or, to quote the Rolling Stones, "Get yer ya yas out"! Mata does sound like a better option to me, plus Yaya will be off to ACN in January.

Massive props for a.) the Stones reference, b.) fueling the tinker fire with the ACN mention, and c.) for 266 points off one transfer. MOTD in my book.

You're Hot Stuff, no doubt about it. The key now is to Not Fade Away. My own start to the season has been something of a Turd On The Run. At this point I've got No Expectations. Oh well. You Can't Always Get What You Want.

My good start will probably turn out to be a Jumpin' Jack Flash in the pan. Someone's going to have to put a stop to the Rolling Stones references on here, 'cos when you Start Me Up...... :D

I promise I'll stop now - unless I'm prompted by someone else.

(no hidden Stones references in this post, honest)

After those musical interludes, how's everyone doing?

What plans, if any, before the break?

I'm looking at 268 points and 4 subs used so far and I'm not really sure if that is good or not tbh. Just keeps me top of my sleague.

As per my other thread I'm having a dilemma over my mid. Go a bit mad and bring in Mata and Silva or just stay calm and go for Silva and see how it all pans out.

Indeed. The morning's big questions.

After yesterday I'm on 280 points having used 5 transfers. That means I should probably told tight.

But along with questions over Downing and Baines, I'm still sitting on Toure. He's got to go, and it seems a bit silly to wait until the break. Unless of course it's part of a larger move. But any larger move surely involves Adebayor ... who is going to score against us today ( ) so why not now...? Head. Exploding.

I'm leaning toward doing just Toure  Mata today. I'm more sold on Mata than most people. Regardless, it wouldn't close the door on a Downing and maybe Baines swap after the break—though it would mean no Ade without dumping Baines. I'm tempted to hold off on Ade until we know how long Aguero is out... But then, if I move both Downing and Toure today I can bring in Ade and a midfield enabler. Or I could go absolutely mental and dumb Baines, Downing, and Toure for Ade, Mata, and one of the several good cheap defenders I've been eyeing... Or? Or? Or? Might just swap coffee  beer before noon. :|

best day for my lot yesterday, jumped 10,000 places into the top 10,000, but doubt will stay there, no risse nor murphy
only the 5 points for the ade but early days, he has some nice games coming up

22/09/11 - Baines, L  Enqiue, J

Brought in Mata in the end. Couldn't bothered to mount a more complex transfer mission this morning, but couldn't sit on Toure anymore either. Reasonably happy with the points, but haven't seen highlights yet. Hope FFL's return to form and Drog's return to fitness won't compromise where Mata plays...

Have Riise, Warnock, and Nasri, so with KCs from Mata, Silva, and Rooney as well, I'm feeling ok about the weekend. Should climb my league table. Not happy with 6 trans burned, and worried about how to sort Downing in after the break. But there are some good options next weekend with 'pool playing on Saturday. Or might give him a few more games. Having hung on this long...

Overall thought, still wishing I'd pulled the trigger on the  beer move earlier

that's very similar to my team - just 4 players that are different. I have 5 more points than you though - and only used 1 transfer so far! :) (but only 0.1 million spare cash :( )

so how are we doing?
still a few single entrants on here i have seen who have not joined the thread

comes to something when the only scorers this week are 2 of the 3 in my defence, Kompany & the lovely Warnock

had to bring ag in to not get left behind, think he will be back for the derby, goals for him and rooney or a 0 - 0? bought ade who has had a decent return, dumped baines against razor's advice but he is too dear to hold,

10,000's still so could be worse
won 4 out of 4 in super 20's which has sudddenly become worth winning, won mine last year but with a resounding, so bleedin what,
and you?

369 points and 5,300th-ish and still only one transfer used. All three of my defenders scored for me this weekend :) (Kompany, Terry and Warnock) and Etherington repaid some of the my faith in him with a couple of assists. I'm pretty happy with my postion at the mo although I'm starting to think I'm getting a little too friendly with the tortoise!

Cant buy a goal for love nor money at the moment. After week 3&4 madness where i somehow managed 13 goals im still waiting for that elusive 5 pointer. 3 transfers used so far but already contemplating a mass overhaul of 5 players  Need to resist the urge :x
