7 weeks to go and I find myself in a bit of a quandary. Last 8 in the knockout and now up to 5th o/a with 6 transfers left.
With only Jay Williamson playing, assuming Westwood isn't. I'd have to probably use 3 transfers and with the field as it is that's a bit of a lottery. Ok, talking myself into it, best save transfers for double pointers and forego the knockout. Shame
Anyone else lucky enough to find themselves in a similar predicament?

I'm in 31st with 6 transfers left which is nice :D

Like you though, I find I have only one player playing this week which is annoying

I might do a tinker to get my numbers up after I've looked at the betting for this weeks events :|

I'm up to 28th, meaning I'm ahead of Hotpot again, as promised :P

5 transfers left....and 5 playing this week 8-) Shame Westwood pulled out! My opponent in last 8 of the matchplay has 4 due to play and 7 transfers, so I suspect I may have to make one this week to get a full squad out. Matchplay may offer me my best hope of a prize this year so I daren't neglect it.

Just had a pleasant Email from Mr Green informing that A Canizares has been added to this weeks event.

I now have 2 players this week :D

You're going down pap!

Now I have 2 playing as well, now that Gallacher has been added....so who knows, still not going to use transfers though.

25th - 7 transfers left. 7 playing after Westwood withdrawal (Been my nemesis that I have guys playing as stopped me getting points! LOL)

200 to make on the leaders - calls for radical differences. Well at least my bunch of muppets wont be seleceted by many this week - big week though as need to make 25-30 points on the top 3

My aim is to have max playing each week from now and trust to the golfing gods - will obviously not be bringing in any guys from those in the top 3 teams as I strive for an alternative line up.

Have a couple of temas just the other side of 100th ie no chance but may with a storming finish sneak top 40 with one of them. Will be needing to add 1 player to get 6 out this week.

A weekly win before the end of the season would be more realistic than a top 3 spot which sadly sums it up

Good luck everyone

Regarding your predicament - Just look to see what is coming up - The valdermama line up is supposedly decided but I can find it for toffee (nor for me!) ;0)

Had a team finished 3rd this week (my best ever weekly performance) moving up into 263rd overall - still 10 transfers left, so might go after the weekly again as I have 3 playing this week which I can therefore make up to a full 6.

Best team slipped to 142nd, only 6 transfers left & may wind up being my second best team (only 78 between the two now). Only 2 playing though, so likely to lose further ground.

TFG team is desperately trying to secure the wooden spoon, 4 playing this week, 4 points behind Pa & 4 transfers remaining.

In 25th - 212 behind leader and 181 behind 3rd. Im still aiming for a top 3 (I know people can blow it......oops - that is just me!)

Only 6 or 7 teams of top 25 have 6 playing this week and there are at least a dozen that have only 1 or 2 transfers left.

So needing to make 20 + points on the top 3 this week (Please dont let it be a -12 week !)

1st - F Molinari / Van Pelt / Barnes / Gallacher
2nd - F Molinari / Van Pelt / Rock / Jiminez
3rd - Schwartzel / Van Pelt / Gallacher / Canizares / Wi

Me - F Molinari / Jiminez / Green / McGrane / Wi / Matteson (Stroud left on Bench)

I have therefore highlighted 3 good missed cuts prospects t the local bookies and one to follow ;)
So clearly want Van Pelt to bomb - GET ON!!!!!

Ended up making changes at about 230am after I got distracted watching the end of the Chile mine rescue! We shall see - what I need now is for Westwood to skip the HSBC - however, I shall immediately be backing him to win it big time as cover

Can't believe it, after much procrastinating at 10pm (3am your time) transfered Willett in, went to bed, one hour later got up reversed transfer went to bed, one hour later got up and put him back in. :x :x :x

Thought I'd play this differently this year, never having done well in this before.

Entered my usual 1 team, looked after my transfers for a change and now find myself at a seasons high of 10th overall with all 6 playing this week.

A win is clearly out of reach, however a possible top 5 and hopefully a top 3 place is I hope possible.

1 Kingsmead Swingers marc eccles 2155
2 Gussy's glory boyz DEAN PETTENGELL 2104
3 Two Ten for Tim TIM Tidmarsh 2076
4 Do Ants Go to Discos Simon Murphy 1992
5 Crossy 3 Richards 0? neill cross 1987
6 Ridgerough Hackers Nigel Chadderton 1968
7 Did you clean your balls TIGER? IAN DAWSON 1962
8 Bald Eagles Bernard Donohue 1958
9 Too much Woods in your Pencil Dominic Warne 1949
10 John Hunt Taunton john hunt 1946

As we well know - Mr Van Pelt performed admirably so all the top 3 got points from him. With the leader also having Fowler it stretched his lead overall and my great dream got further away.
John - You pessimism scares me - of course you can catch the leader! 200 or so points and 5 weeks (2 of which are doubles!) and anything is possible.

What makes it more plausible is that those inbetween you and him are nearly all transferred out so the next 2 weeks could close the gap by 50-60 plus move you up to 4th (Quite realistic!)

Im 20 points behind you and hoping to be top 10 after this week (Hope springs eternal).

2nd place is a fantastic prize and the current second has no-one playing this week and only 1 transfer so I cant see them finishing top 3.
4th to 8th currently have only 2 playing at max each and may use transfers but will be left with only 1 or 2 if they do.

Still exciiting me thinks if we can gain 30 points this week.

Are you starting to beleive yet John? Up to 7th and I think a pretty good cert for 5th after this week - so all to play for .

I have flattered to deceive again - last 8 weeks have had a full side out each week and yet still cant pick up points. Would be interested in stats on top 30 finishes - I perfect them.

Good luck this week - I hope you get 50 points. I obviously hope I get 100 but will be picking those that others dont after failing to make ground last week and staying in 17th

Yes, it's starting to get interesting. As you say 5th should be poss after this week, it all rests on the x2 events coming up. 50 would be great for this week and looking at your team, a stong week for you will put you right back in it.
Good luck
John

Only 5 weeks now!

The teams in 1st and 2nd overall have 3 and 4 active players this week, so this is 'moving week' boys, you won't get a better chance!

Interesting that both subbed out Gallagher this week, despite him playing  Do they know something we don't?

More a case of having to, if they wanted to squeeze Kaymer in, but reckon the chances of Gallagher finishing above Kaymer this week must now be very high :P

Both on +2 at the moment. :|

End of season jitters here or just plain too much procrastination. Using up remaining transfers and making the wrong ones. Brought in G Mac then two hours later reversed him for E. Molinari with most having G Mac I thought I might make a move on the leaders but guess what.

I presume it is because of the reduced filed size.

Correct, as per SamD's post on the weekly thread. Tsk, tsk AK.

Only 96 in field due to reduced daylight hours. Sadly they aren't kind enough to let 60-odd through!

.. and the fact they're only going off the 1st instead of half the groups off the 10th like almost every other tournament nowadays.

McGrane on bench from my 6 and Derksen shifted out the other week. Looks like Aiken and Green willprovide me another 20-30 position finish for no help at all. Would like a sneaky top 15 from them both with Mcdowell / Jiminez and Molinari top 10 to at least move up at little

Couple of snippets - Westwood showing as in the field for next week, but I haven't found anythign yet to suggest he has reversed his decision to play this week & Dubai as his only 2 events left in the OFL season.

McIlroy showing how much effort he is putting in this season: fairly certain he was due to play Portugal but changed his mind, and then went off to play on the Challenge Tour in Egypt (wonder what his fee was? ). He was then due to play Singapore next week as he played the final 4 events in the R2D - but has not appeared in the field. Could this have anything to do with the fact he has got himself tickets for David Haye v Harrison next weekend?

Really glad I wasted a change on him given his plans a few weeks back - utterly useless

That 7 weeks went quickly :P

Here are the final placings in the FISO mini-league:

Image

Well earned respect to the Craig (Tots) Kilding Memorial boys, who comprehensively knocked us into 2nd place in the Friends and Enemies League.

As far as us lot are concerned, bragging rights go to Padmole for his victory, gaining 20th place overall, and squeaking a free entry into OFL Golf 2011.

Well played to El_Pappje for his 2nd place and to Britinus for a hard earned 3rd.

The rest of us should have done better

All that's left to say is a big 'thank you' to Mr Green for an excellently run competition once again, and roll on the Masters in April :)

Oh, and don't forget to do your OFL survey here
