Out of interest, what are people's genuine thoughts about the minimum number of teams you need to enter this game to try and get there or thereabouts for any prizes. What I really want to know is, is there any point in entering just one team?

you only need one team to win. Because only 1 team can win.

I have 2 though

I only have one team and I'm quite sure that I'm capable of scoring 19 points with them. :D

I may be biased, but "definitely" would be my answer...

I reckon that entrants with a single team have won the overall competition just as often as those with several teams in the 10 (or is it 11?) years that Fantasy League Golf has been running...

When it comes down to the latter stages, I can only remember one instance where an entrant had a chance to "cover their options" with two teams in the top four, but entering several teams does allow entrants to re-allocate a proportion of teams during the season to solely focus on weekly prizes if out of contention for the overall prizes - rather than to plod along to try and get into the top 100/200/1000 etc.

What also has to be considered is that the entrants who enter several teams are also those that would fancy their chances against the field due to perceived greater knowledge/success in other fantasy games/success in previous fantasy golf games.

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone.

Mr Green thanks for your honesty (never expected anything less) in your answer considering you would of course prefer people to enter more teams. Interesting stuff.

Of course my aims are different to many FISOers because I don't believe I have a chance of getting close to the overall prizes, but I would have thought that being able to cover lots of choices, certainly in the early stages, so you can then jump on a single team as your others fall away would be more beneficial, but it seems not.

I may go another team as I found the same as redge, it gave a bit more freedom when I entered two last season, but I think that was more to do with sticking Woods in one and not the other, but the pricing is much more friendly at the top end this time around.

I had one team in my first year and finished around 20th place. Every year that I have two teams, one drops to 500th and is forgotten about, it's so annoying to spread your picks and find the poorer team getting the winner each week. I'd only do one team if it's just for the overall comp, as has been said you'll only need one.

Depends really on your approach - went for 7 last year and covered my money with a weekly and a top 20 overall but I did as a consequence make some poor decisions when hedging my bets rather than loading across all teams.
If multi teaming then I think the approach may be to split for the masters but keep your back up guys similar then do your changes to the clearly strong guys across the board.
Then have your differences in double /treble point events as appropriate. Example being that as I had DOnald / Molinari in 3 of teams I didnt bring into top teams in spite thinking they were great to follow. COnsequently made ground with chasing teams to overtake the one previosuly leading..make sense?

Ultimately the game is more enduring with 2 or 3 teams - you can make a conscious decision part way through to target one towards weekly prizes and knockout cup and even potentially the fall competition.

The general levelling of prices this time round and the high level of quality across the board may mean that picking a great squad will be very easy once you find the couple of 1m bargains but we will see.

Definitely do more than one though.................SO concludes the thoughts of OFL share holder P Mulhall (Well if spending money on teams constitutes being a shareholder anyway ;0) )

I still think my first season playing this, when I had just one team, was my most successful season to date, but time permitting, I think I will add one more team. Unfortunately, I don't have the brains to be as clever as the likes of toffee, paddy etc etc in terms of spreading players, but more in hope that I may, for once, pick a decent 6 to give me a good start.

I had two last year, to cover the Tiger option, but back to one this year, as I still haven't won anything. Missed a weekly on the tie-break last year  - that might have prompted to me to continue with two. Might enter the Fall Finish this year though.

I've never had just one team, but quite often the first team I put together turns out to be the best one - same with football too. I think 3 teams is the optimum number for me, in terms of the number of players you can cover and the time it takes to manage them, and that's what I had in my first 4 or 5 years (just how long have I been playing this damn game now?!).

Last year I just had 2 teams and it didn't feel like enough. So this year l've got 4 teams! - I only intended to have 3 but I'm not working at the moment so I've got lots of time on my hands. Which reminds me, what time does the Masters coverage start on Sky....

I just remembered that the time I won the Majors competition in 2003 (the only thing I've ever won at OFL golf btw) I was just going to have 2 teams, but if I remember rightly the start of the tournament was delayed that year so OFL extended the entry deadline, so I put in a 3rd team - and it was that one that got off to a flyer and eventually won me that prize, mainly because it had that year's Masters winner Mike Weir in it, and not many other teams had him.
