It seems like the tip of the iceberg, with something 4,000 possible taps; and possible email hacking.

The revelations are not going to stop anytime soon......

Maybe the notion that they would be faced with continual injunctions due to the possibility of phone tapping :?

Far more likely that Rupe had to do something to try to get the take-over accepted?

I am surprising that they have not been mentioned.

Did the NotW do the "investigations" and the Sun run with it until the next great exposee?

That is huge news.
Hopefully next it is the real sleaze papers known as the Daily Mail and the Daily Express.

There is the suggestion that other papers could come under the spotlight, now, and the gutter press be cleaned up; however, I would expect the Sun on Sunday to emerge later in the year, and little changing unless the public\advertisers pressure continues.

News International have been planning for the Sun to be 7 days a week for a while now.

Have they confirmed this?

They will just re-employ all the notw staff and journos, not a shred of difference. Will still be the same obsession with z-list celebs.

The omission which jumps out at me is that there is almost nothing in Murdoch's statement about the future of the people who work for NOTW - either reference to redundancies or re-assurances about continued employment.

Whatever you think of the paper most employees don't deserve to be suddenly on the dole because of a few crooks.

Or maybe tomorrow they will all be re-hired by the Sun on Sunday?

Or maybe it will go upmarket and compete with the Observer, with the obligatory bit of tit & ass thrown in of course.

The paper cannot survive without adverts so Murdoch must have spoken with the ones who left the NOTW.
Maybe they all said they'd come back if it was not called the NOTW.
So he changed the name.
