Eh? :?

Edit: sorry, that looked a bit antagonistic, I genuinely don't know what you're referring to. It's definitely the case that I don't play Hac very savvily though, in that I think too much about what's good for me and not enough about what I can do to screw up my opponents. Every time I think I've got the game sussed, I find something else that I haven't considered fully enough... :(

Sorry perhaps  rather than  would have been more appropriate.

On your last turn (as player four) you bought a horse when you had four animals in hand. This allowed Scoot (as player five) to puchase the remaining two animals to end the game that turn and connect a market for the win with you in last place. Had you left three animals down he would not have been able to do that.

I'm sure that you didn't spot that and therefore my "genourous play" comment was meant as tongue in cheek banter. I apologise if I came across as annoyed in my earlier comment which was meant to be lighthearted. As I finished with 6 animals in hand I must be to blame for the end of the game!

You know what, and it's pathetic considering the number of games I've played, I'm still not sure exactly how the game ends - I was thinking there would be a 'final scoring round' after the last animal was bought, but that didn't happen. Does than not happen in V2 games, or does it only happen in the first round of the standard game?

As I understand it (and I'd be happy to stand corrected) the game ends after every player has had the same amount of turns. So if player 1 takes the last animal then everyone else gets another turn and the game finishes. But if player 5 (the last player) takes the last animal then the game ends instantly at the end of his/her turn.

Yes, that seems to be it - blimey, 120 games in and the penny finally drops...
