Been having a peruse of Autotrader, looking like my options are Rover 75, Vauxhall Omega, Skoda Superb, Peugeot 607, Volvo S60. Maybe an older A6 or E Class but not sure the VFM is there so much. Not as much choice for a VFM comfortable economical luxury cruiser as I would have thought. :?

Oh FFS man - Vauxhall Omega??? Skoda Superb :? A Pug?? (Are they allowed to do more than 40?) and an S60??

Listen to yourself!!

Is this what happens when you get to that 'comfortable middle age'. All VFM and 'affordable luxury'. 'Peruse!!!'

Get an Alfa.

Alchemist - The reason I was heading toward the more 'affordable' brands is because when my last Saab 9-3 broke I was faced with a £2500 bill. The exhaust replacement was £900 (a mid bellows system) and due to a cracked spring the engine had been shaken off the mounts. The problem with fancy cars is that it costs fancy prices to fix them. I did love that Saab until then, even if it did 25 mpg. My current Diesel does 50mpg, which Unc, is why I don't do petrol.

I've got a Skoda Fabia 1.9 tdi and can vouch for the fuel economy and reliability of it, haven't been in a superb so can't comment on the comfort, but based on my car that's 2 out of 3 boxes ticked!

nice

i would recommend a vectra, you could buy a 1.9 cdti (the 150bhp model) diesel 3 to 4 yrs old for 4k. Dont worry about it having 90kish on the clock, ive had 2 and they are great. V comfortable to drive.

i would put them forward

edit--oh right i didnt read to the end did i?.....u r prob best off with a jag....
