NEFI £20 cash league 2011/12

League now closed for entries

Yet again last season was a cracker (although possibly more apt description is slow burner).
Managers can once again have a crack a tidy pool of cash prizes as well as those on offer from TFF.
Last season we had 26 entrants, so with a bit of luck we’ll perhaps make it 30 this season.

It's a simple game format - £20 in and all money is paid out to the top 3 (Last seasons prize split was: 1st = £260, 2nd = £160 and 3rd £100) – this season the prize pot will be boosted by a kind donation from last seasons NEFI winner and all-round good egg Spoogehead (he also did quite well in another game), I’m sure Steve will want a say in how the donation is offered up so watch this thread for further details.

Rules

1. One team per person
2. £20 entry to be paid by bank transfer, cheque or paypal - just send me a personal message or post below letting me know how you want to pay.
3. Top three places will pay out at the end of the season (50%/30%/20%).
3a. Thanks to Spooges generosity a £50 one off prize is given to 4th spot, the distribution of the other prizes is as detailed in 3
4. If a TFF Super League prize is won, this will be shared equally between the top five places at the end of the season
5. Super League details will be sent out when payment has been received
6. All FISO members welcome to enter, this is an open invitation cash league, all entrants are listed on the post below
7. Super League is 'closed' i.e. Not possible to view other's teams
8. Deadline for entry is 13:00 Saturday 13th August 2011. Payment must be received and team name specified by this time in order to join in.
9. Premium Bonds - entry fee fund will be used to purchase Bonds in August.
Numbers will be eligible for monthly lottery draws from 1 Oct 2011 to 1 May 2012.
Returns totalling £500+ in the whole season will be split equally by all managers.
Any smaller win can be used to boost the following year's super league prize fund.

The season is now under way and we have 23 managers in the NEFI this season, with Spooges bonus £50 the prize split is confirmed as:

Premium Bonds
I didn't need to cash them in to pay out the prizes from last season so even though the NEFI is slightly down on numbers (23 as opposed to 26 last season) when you add in the £50 from Spooge the prize pot is only £10 less than last season, I am happy to use the bonds from last season so everyone gets a bit more value for money, mind you we still have to get lucky on the bonds

Excuse my ignorance, what does NEFI stand for and is it the same as the 25's league but £5 cheaper

Hi Ronny, the NEFI originated as a regional league taking in North East England based FISOers or those with a close affiliation with North East teams.

With the demise of the hugely popular TSO cash leagues a few seasons back the NEFI was expanded to go worldwide and has gone from strength to strength. The standard of the league is good (not quite as good as the 25s, although the season before last we came 6th overall in the super leagues ) so if you feel you can get a team in the top 1000 then you stand a decent chance in this game.

It is a different animal to the 25s, firstly it has a very simple prize structure with all money going on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd placings with a 50/30/20 split (the 25s is something like 1st to 7th with a cup and 2nd half prizes too). The 25s has also traditionally attracted a large number of entrants (>80) where as the NEFI is around the 20-30 managers size.

Good man - yes it appears quite easy to throw together a decent team in a matter of minutes - too easy perhaps Just waiting for the real life transfer sagas to conclude which will no doubt throw up some quandaries.
