Manchester United fear Nani could be out for several weeks with the foot injury he suffered against Arsenal.

The Portugal winger was forced off at the Emirates in the 75th minute of United's 2-1 win on Sunday and travelled home with the foot in a protective plastic boot.

Nani was in agony throughout the two-hour train journey and was told by United's medical staff to keep his leg stretched out in front of him for the duration of the trip.

United have refused to disclose exact details of the injury, but reports from Portugal suggest the winger could be out for up to two months .

Nani is understood to have undergone a scan on Wednesday, having waited for the swelling to subside, amid fears he may have suffered ligament damage or - worse - a broken metatarsal.
