Not a newbie obviously but my sisters work has organised a league and she asked for my help, the boys at her worked laughed at her when she said she wanted to join so she's determined to shut em all up (from what I gather complete fantasy football amateurs/typical work league)
I wrote her up an idiots guide to fantasy football and outlined the rules of SDT and things to take into consideration ie players in europe, stats/points from last season etc etc, I also did her a player pool of 61 players that are 'worthy' picks and told her to pick out 11 from my stats, pros and cons of each player

here's what she came up with

Hart - City - 4m
Kompany - City - 5.5m
Lescott - City - 4.5m
Hangeland - Fulham - 4m
Huth - Stoke - 3.5m
Dempsey - Fulham - 4m
N'Zogbia - Villa - 4m
Yaya - City - 5m
Gardner - Sunderland - 2m (potentially her future surname so Craig has to stay I'm afraid)
Rooney - United - 8m
Jones - Stoke - 3.5m

48.5m

Will the little girl that knows nowt about football be laughing at the boys come May?

Glad she's not in my league! Well balanced team but what about using the extra 1.5 to upgrade Jones or even Dempsey to Silva?

the 1.5m came from me telling her about the Spurs Everton game being called off, she switched Baines to Huth (1.5m)

I also think
Gardner  Etherington/Zamora
Yaya  Silva/Malouda/Nani/Suarez
Jones  Walcott
etc etc etc are potentially better options but it's her team, I wasn't going to tell her to have that guy, that guy, that guy otherwise it wouldn't be her team, she is aware of the funds but is happy with her team so I won't force her to make any ammendments

international break, beginning of September (after 3 premiership games), she'd rather Huths potential 5 games as opposed to Baines' 2, she does do her homework, I only told her Spurs Everton was called off and she did the rest

After emailing her at work that an upgrade using the 1.5m could come in handy I suggested Gardner to Etherington/Zamora, she just got back to me (it does slightly feel like I've had too much of a helping hand but she had the choice)

Final team

Hart - City - 4m
Kompany - City - 5.5m
Lescott - City - 4.5m
Hangeland - Fulham - 4m
Huth - Stoke - 3.5m
Dempsey - Fulham - 4m
N'Zogbia - Villa - 4m
Yaya - City - 5m
Zamora - Fulham - 3.5m
Rooney - United - 8m
Jones - Stoke - 3.5m

50m

Good work sis!

Update - 56 points and top of her 7 person works league (now £10 winner takes all :D ) (1 person has picked Luiz and Hernandez  and even worse another with Rafael and Sturridge    Makes my shitty Elite team look good)

With Huth, Hangeland, Dempsey, Zamora and Jones with potential midweek games her team is looking promising

MLS (My Little Sis) Update

178 points
76,472nd nationally

GK J Hart MCY £4.5m 7
DEF R Huth STO £3.5m 17
DEF V Kompany MCY £5.5m 10
DEF B Hangeland FUL £4.0m 17
DEF J Lescott MCY £4.5m 4
MID Y Toure MCY £5.0m 7
MID C N'Zogbia AST £4.0m 9
MID C Dempsey FUL £4.0m 30
STR K Jones STO £3.5m 26
STR W Rooney MAN £8.0m 49
STR B Zamora FUL £3.5m 2

Top of her 7 person works league by 20 points

My input for this TW is a spreadsheet of all games each team is playing, that is all, she'll weigh up the fixtures and the points already scored by certain players

Who should she ship and bring in? No doubt she'll look at her points and it'll be 3 of Lescott, Yaya, N'Zog and Zamora

Yaya > Silva
Zamora > Dzeko
Hangeland for 3m defender??

Think Fulham will leak goals under Jol and he has only scored well so far due to easy Europa games, but their group is quite tough for them IMO so I would get rid.

Transfer window update

She left it till the last minute so for the first time I had to play a part in the selection process.
I told her about Lescott's potential rotational problems, Richard's potential injury/rotational problems, Yaya's deeper role, N'Zogs lack of form and Zamora's injury/form issues, she then decided for herself that Yaya, N'Zog and Zamora were the ones she wanted to ditch.
She was adament in getting in Dzeko which left 8.5m for 2 midfielders, she wanted to know how much Silva was but didn't like the thought of being left with 3m for the other player so ditched that idea. I then promoted Theo and Mata, she was unsure about Theo.....

'Arsenal are shit aren't they?'
'yeh but they have nice fixtures coming up'
'I really don't want any Arsenal players'
'with 8.5m there aren't many better options than that combo'
'ok, but I'm still not happy, Arsenal are crap'

She may be a girl but she knows her football

GK J Hart MCY £4.5m 7
DEF R Huth STO £3.5m 17
DEF V Kompany MCY £5.5m 10
DEF B Hangeland FUL £4.0m 17
DEF J Lescott MCY £4.5m 4

MID C Dempsey FUL £4.0m 30
STR K Jones STO £3.5m 26
STR W Rooney MAN £8.0m 49
STR B Zamora FUL £3.5m 2  Dzeko

11 European players with the 2nd placed team 20 points away only having 5, surely she'll just increase her lead.....

Transfer window ones transfers were abit hit and miss, mainly miss

Walcott 6 :(
Mata 22 :D
Dzeko 3 :(

So transfer window 2 opens and here are her works league standings.........

1 Chucks sister 362
2 326
3 291
4 288
5 266
6 205
7 200

The 20 point lead extends to 36 even with Walcott and Dzeko not pulling their weight

Her current team

GK J Hart MCY £4.5m
DEF R Huth STO £3.5m
DEF V Kompany MCY £5.5m
DEF B Hangeland FUL £4.0m
DEF J Lescott MCY £4.5m
MID T Walcott ARS £5.0m
MID J Mata CHE £3.5m
MID C Dempsey FUL £4.0m
STR K Jones STO £3.5m
STR W Rooney MAN £8.0m
STR E Dzeko MCY £4.0m

She hasn't aired her view on potential transfers as yet but my concerns are with Lescott, Walcott and Jones, she may think otherwise

Would love to know FISOs take and ideas on transfers, see if they match up to the girly that got 4 out of 6 finishing in 12th in Skys Super 6 only a fews ago

I agree, id have out those three and replace them with

P Jones £3.5m
D Silva £5.5m/ Ashley Young £5.5m
Sturridge £3.5m

+0.5m leftover for TW3

Would appreciate your comments on my post if you have a chance pal.
Thanks
Brad

I actually like your thoughts and appreciate them so cheers Brad.

I would have said Jones.
I thought Silva, Nasri, VDV or Nani for the midfield spot as opposed to Young.
Stupidly didn't even think of Sturridge but hadn't given it much thought to be honest, was thinking Jones would be tough to replace based on price and considered Adebayor not knowing his price but Sturridge is a very good call.

Will throw her some of these names, let her study the fixtures (which she will do, even if I have to slap her) and report back her preferences.

The more comments the better people....

J Lescott 4.5m  J Enrique 2m (-2.5m)
K Jones 3.5  D Silva 5.5m (+2m)

Then either:

T Walcott 5m  Suarez 5.5m (+0.5m)

or

E Dzeko 4m  Adebayor 4.5m (+0.5m)

Not too keen on Pools fixtures so wouldn't advise Enrique/Suarez to come in, Adebayor is a decent shout though, but I feel Jones is more dead weight than Dzeko

A little sis update ......

Hart
Kompany
Jones
Hangeland
Huth
Silva
Mata
Dempsey
Rooney
Crouch
Dzeko

Cost - £50m
Total - 858 points
National Position - 35,617th
The all important Works League - 1st of seven and 116 points clear of 2nd

Her team scored 82 this week and was top 500, shame she doesn't play WDT as she could have beaten her brother to a prize :?

Bringing in Silva, Jones and Crouch were decent shouts by her in the last window.

I have told her she has until Friday to make any changes, who should she ditch? Who should she bring in?

maybe swap Kompany for Vermulean

Still leading her work league by something crazy like 130 points....

This week she has attempted WDT for the first time. The only advice I offered her was to add a defender from a team that she has most from anyway, she did the rest and came up with....

Hart
Kompany
Hangeland
Jones
Enrique
Dempsey
Giggs
Mata
Rooney
RVP
Crouch
----------------
Lescott*
Lamps
Sturridge

RMLSWDT :D
