Welcome to the grand opening of murf enterprises's 2010 Formula 1 predictions.

New season = New teams = New drivers = New Points System = Same Old Predictions Comp... but a bit different

One change from last year is the new points system down to 10th place. In line I have tweaked this comp so you need to pick the top 10 finishers -

- use driver surnames only
- use the correct spelling
BBC Driver List
Please double check your spelling or the automated spreadsheet WILL steal your points!
IF I spot your mistake I will give you a nod to change it. Yellow card system - just one warning/nod each. The spreadsheet has been refined since last year so badly spelled picks will get 0 points.

HOW THE POINTS WORK FOR EACH ROUND

Each GP all you need to do is predict the top 10 finishers.

For each one you get in the correct position you get 25 points. If they finish one place out from your prediuction then you get 18 pts, 15 for two places out then 12-10-8-6-4-2-1 etc like the new F1 points. No points if your pick finishes outide the top 10 (gutting if your pick for 10th comes home 11th). e.g. If you pick Hamilton to come 3rd but he comes 2nd you will get 18 pts for being one out. There is no weighting so your 1st place pick is only as important as your 10th place pick.

Entries must be in by start time of first qualifying session. Edits allowed until then (you can swap your picks after seeing the friday practice sessions etc.) but strictly no edits or entries after that time or you will get the black flag.

HOW THE FISO COMP POINTS WORK

The best score in each round will 'win' the Grand Prix and get glory and 25 points then 18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 just like the real thing.

Ties will be decided by:
a) How many points the driver you picked to win got
b) How many points the driver you picked to come 2nd got, then 3rd, 4th etc to 10th
c) The finishing position of the driver you picked 1st then 2nd etc (will only count if your picks are classified finishers outside the top 10)
d) How many laps were completed by the driver you picked 1st then 2nd etc (will only count if your picks are not classified as finishers)
e) Who entered their team first (goes by timestamp on post of last edit)

I will also tally everybody's total points scored during the rounds as the 'form guide' secondary comp.

There will be various side comps and cups arranged later on.

HOW TO PICK

As I will be doing it all by spreadsheet I will ask nicely (but seriously) that everybody:

1. Sticks to the template
2. Uses driver surnames only with the correct spelling as per BBC Drivers list
3. No witty comments / smileys on the predictions lines (NOTE - these are copied directly into the spreadsheet so any extra bits could as incorrect spellings meaning 0 points!. Feel free to explain your madness, insult people or just post crap after the key 10 lines.

DEADLINE
The deadline is always the official start time of first qualifying. I think first qualifying starts at 11AM UK time (GMT) on saturday.

Entry is open to everybody and newcomers will be free to join at any time.

Caveat - I reserve the right to throw anybody out of the competition who I deem does not post in the spirit of FISO. 99% of you will be fine so don't worry. My decision is final.

Thanks for your entry but can you edit it to remove the numbers etc. I copy and paste it straight into Excel and it won't recognise the text string "1.Alonso" as "Alonso"

We have unfinished business nosey one.

I am, however, at a HUGE disadvantage for race one as i am travelling Friday and Saturday to the Alps, getting there midday Saturday . So, i'll not get to see any practise, and have little idea of who is hot, and who is not (specifically for Bahrain). Luckily, i've been keeping an eye on things over the last few weeks and can offer up a firm prediction of the top 10 for this weekend, without having to see practise.

We've not even started and Ton has an excuse up his sleeve already For anyone new to the game, me and Ton were neck and neck at one stage last season, which led to a small wager. Once lured into my trap, I strolled to the title (or something like that) and then went double on quits on FISO goals. Again, Ton was succesfully reeled in and I am streets ahead - like taking candy from a kid

Yep, you get to see 2 practice sessions on Friday and one early on saturday. Sounds like a good way to see some form but usually just adds to the confusion

No edits after the start of the proper qualifying which is lunchtime saturday local time. Slightly early start for us Brits this time as Bahrain is that bit around the planet.

I'll be skiing in France so will miss it. Will pop on line sometime during the evening though to collect my 25pts and bottle of champers
