Welcome to the advent calendar of gambling!

Every day of December until the 24th I will be opening a door on my fantasy advent calendar to reveal a bet. You will have the choice to back that bet or lay it and will win the sponders if you are right.

I will, of course, back every bet and your first priority is to beat me and second priority is to beat everyone else.

-Everybody gets a sponder a day to bet with (the FISO currency)
-Each day you must bet at least that day's sponder, if you don't bet that day you lose that sponder.
-When you are in profit (had a winner or several) you can increase any bet to up to 10 sponders if you have sufficient funds.
-Bets in whole sponders only.
-Bets must be in by announced deadlines
-All odds as I declare them (usually taken from Oddschecker best odds)
-Rules will be amended as necessary!

There will be special 'free' 2 sponder bonus bets on the following days:
2nd - I'm A Celebrity
6th - X Factor
13th-15th - Strictly
19th-21st A white chrismas
(anyone who has bet every day will get 2 sponders for these freeebies, anyone with missing days will get a pro rata amount).

Sounds good! I am not going to be interneted every day as I am on holiday for 3 weeks or so - can I put in a default 1 sponder back the bet default so I dont just lose the bet each day I dont respond?

DAY 1

Lo and behold, beyond the first door is a football!

Tis the Carling Cup and the bet is:

Ipswich to beat West Brom
Bet = 3/1
Lay = 1/3

Deadline = kick off = 7:45pm GMT

As it is Day 1 you all have just today's sponder to bet with.

My bet as a template:

Day 1
Ipswich
Bet 3/1
1 sponder

I'll allow that but you won't get the bonus bets (as they won't be simple bet/lay) unless you are around.

90 minutes to get the good odds.

I thought you'd have to have faith in the Tractor Boys but I wasn't sure....

(Incidentally this advent gambledar will not feature any Liverpool bets as I don't like tempting fate).

Bets can be on anything but will be primarily sport with a footie bias. I will after all be making it up as I go along. Sorry, I mean, I don't know what is behind all the doors.....

The odds did it for me, 1.3, or 4 sponds. We could kick them off the park, it is freezing etc here....

I thought yesterday that WHam would be a good bet and as I was listening to the game the idea for this comp formed...

You get a free bet every day - bit of a cheek asking for a sign up bonus on top :lol:

There are of course the bonus, freebie, loyalty bets starting with the I'm A Celebrity one tomorrow (I see Stacey is currently at 1/6 so that could be an interesting betting dilemma for mug punters and cowards alike!) where you'll get an extra 2 sponders if you have bet on the first 2 days standard bets. Full details with tomorrow's door opening.

Worth a try - my greed is a sign of the society we live in and even on here I'm encouraged to gamble and even worse watch I'm a Celeb! :lol: (Been watching every night and on Sky Serious Link but can't admit to that can I)

Are sponders exclusive to the account holder or can the Mrs cash them in for yet more Christmas prezzies?

Keep them coming folks :D

Reminder - can all bets be done according to the template:

Day 1
Ipswich
Bet 3/1
1 sponder

This will help me more for later windows when things get more complicated.

I've had a quick sneak behind tomorrow's window and think I saw a golden £ sign so I am guessing it will be to do with the World Cup bid (and will have an early deadline - 3pm?)
