well folks it's been a long hard fought campaign, starting off with 1445 films, during the course of the qualifying rounds over 9000 votes have been cast over 92 seperate polls, some excellent films have unfortunately missed out but there was only ever going to be room for 64 and the cream has risen to the top, here be the final 64 in rank order*

Godfather
Toy Story
Die Hard
Raiders of the lost ark
The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Goodfellas
Life of Brian
Shawshank Redemption
Rocky
Jaws
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Casablanca
Pulp Fiction
memento
Enter The Dragon
Airplane
Grease
The Blues Brothers
The Dark Knight
The Third Man
Shrek
City of God
Pan's Labyrinth
Titanic
thelma and louise
4 Weddings and a funeral
Star Wars
Back To The Future
Alien
The Bourne Supremacy
Finding Nemo
Schindlers List
2001: A Space Odyssey
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest
The Great Escape
touching the void
Terminator
citizen Kane
Trainspotting
Apollo 13
Gladiator
Forrest Gump
return of the king
the omen
the shining
Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
Chariots of Fire
Full Metal Jacket
Donnie Darko
Silence of the Lambs
My Left Foot
The Elephant man
Braveheart
Blade Runner
the birds
Holy grail
Blazing Saddles
Top Gun
The Green Mile
American Beauty
The Usual Suspects
Leon
Pretty Woman
Taxi Driver

these have been split into seperate pots (seeds 1-8 into pot 1, 9-16 into pot 2 etc) There are 8 groups of 8, with one from each pot going into each group. These polls are going to be very tricky so I will include a tag line to each film and a youtube link to the trailer to refresh the memory. There will be 4 films progressing from each group.

*rank order is worked out thanks to a nice wee equation based on number of films qualifying from a poll, number of films in each poll, total votes cast and votes each film received.

group stages will start either soon or at some point tomorrow night.

When does this round end? Looks like the results are basically in, with Citizen Kane and Taxi Driver out, for shame.

well a third of the way through the QF's and it's all square in 2 of them, only 2 votes seperate the third game and it looks like there will be no Great Escape this time round for one film that I won't name.

still all to play for in 3 of them - be the 12th man!

Three of the four quarter-finals are still separated by 3 votes or less, which is quite amazing. Another interesting stat is that two of the four quarters have drawn 55 votes, and two 56 votes, which suggests to me that it's the same people voting each time, with one or two abstentions - probably when people haven't seen both films.

All that can be safely said at this stage is that Pulp Fiction will make the semis, and The Great Escape won't.
