Anyone see MOTD2 last night and think that John Motson's commentary on the Chelsea/Blackpool game sounded a bit strange?

I know some people think Motty always sounds a bit odd, but last night was just weirdly subdued, like he was commentating on golf or cricket rather than footy. Or did I just imagine it?

Spot on. He sounded depressed or groggy.

I agree. He sounded like he didn't know half the players and his annoying over pronunciation of Drogbaaaaaaa is starting to grate. Shame, coz I think he's great but perhaps now its time to rest the sheepskin overcoat for good.

He drivels excited wide eyed tosh. Thats his schoolboy charm. But not on Saturday.

Have to agree - sounded very subdued. I thought perhaps he was adding commentary to the highlights post-match rather than being at the game, hence the lack of his usual enthusiasm.

I watched it live so didn't catch this, he doesn't sound his usual upbeat self, I did listen to Arsenal Sunderland on talksport and when Bent scored I thought the commentator was marvelous(name escapes me) but unfortunately he was commentating with that tool Collymore(currently my least favourite commentator/pundit, the tone of his voice when airing his opinion grates on me

Sounded OK to me... Maybe he's got a bit of a stinky cold.

My ex used to over exaggerate... even after telling her for the millionth time to put a sock in it she still carried on. Nutty old bint.
