On on Thursday evenings - repeated seemingly quite often during the week (as Sky1 is want to do)

Anyone, the opening episode was excellent, the usual setting up of characters was followed with a genuinely laugh out loud ending - genuine promise for being the next 'big thing' for US comedy.

Basic premise - follows 3 families within one big family. The Father (played Ted Bundy in Married with Children), on his second marriage to a much younger Phillipino / Mexican with the extra baggage of an 11 year old son. His daughter, married to a complete prick, teenage daughter with 2 younger kids (boy/girl) & finally his angst ridden gay son, extremely camp partner & the Vietnamese baby girl they've just adopted.

If you get the chance watch it - you may never view 'The Lion King' the same though

Watched part 2 tonight, definitely worth sticking with, some genuinely laugh out loud moments.

If you like The Office / Curb your enthusiasm type shows you'll love this.

Like those two but didn't like the first episode of this one but maybe they were just getting used to acting together.

I like it. More along the lines of a saner Arrested Development.

I have it sky+ed. Very funny at times.
The Phil character is really well played imo. Just short of being annoying

This is getting better and better. Their section of the Valetines day episode was a cracker and Phil was on top form

Claire: "I'm going to keep you up all night so I'd advise you get a snooze at work"
Phil [seductively]: "Oh I always do"

You can see the jokes a mile off and I prefer King of Queens.

I think thats part of its charm. Its all in the delivery. The acting invites you to say "oh I know, I know" then makes it funny anyway.

Started up again last night on Sky 1 - 2 half hour episodes back to back.

Still very, very funny - same sort of style as Curb your enthusiasm, probably not quite as good. Had me crying with laughter last night.

Best line last night.

'I'm going to get a beer, beer, beer
before I punch you in the head, head, head'

If you've seen it, you'll know what I mean

Phil on form last night: "Don't apologise (for crying). I love it when you're human"

ahh wicked, didn't realise there was a thread on this. thanks for the heads up - love this show

the two LOL highlights from last year that spring to mind:

- Phil shooting Luke in the back yard as 'punishment', then not having the guts but accidentally shooting him anyway and then hitting Haley's boyfriend with a wayward shot too

- Haley's driving test, she asks the driving instructor to smile. the slow uncomfortable forced smile he did had me in stitches.

top prog.

oh yeah, and the day Phil helped Luke with his project, and they were highlighting Luke's tendency to get easily distracted. so Phil helps him but ends up but notices the chair is squeaking to goes to the garage to fetch some tools and a cple of distractions later is doing the splits on some boxes to reach something completely different

Another genius episode this week.

Cam in bicycle shorts   (pixelated thankfully)

Cam 'I'm leaning towards the left'
Clare 'I can see that'

This week's episode was brilliant. Manny's birthday

If you enjoy the show, do what you have to do to catch this episode (Sky player, repeats etc..) an absolute joy :D
