Hi all

Anybody tried these out?

On the face of it, they look quite attractive. Only 10% of total pool of money is not given back (profit/admin for Metro I guess). Can choose amount to pay, and how long to play for (4 weeks at a time, or rest of season). Surely with a little more effort / knowledge than "average" players - i.e. those not obsessed enough to join forums etc. - getting into top 4 of a 20 man league should be possible. (Better than 2 pounds on Wigan away to Chelsea!)

Wow - this topic generate about as much interest as the "pay to join" leagues themselves!

If anyone has the answer I would like to know what happens to prize fund when only 2 people (out of a max of 30!) stump up the 5 pounds (or 2 or 10) to join?

Yeah, there's a few tumbleweeds blowing round these parts :)

Haven't got a clue about the prize funds. Have you tried emailing them?

I'm doing pants in the leagues I've paid to join. Can't see me taking home any cash this year.

I feel I am Good Fantasy Football Manager and can usually get into the top 2% of competitions (Europa League class :D :D ) but I am certainly not in the Champions League category of managers.

I used your theory in the Metro World Cup game and paid for 4 competitions. I came up trumps in 2 of them, coming 2nd overall in the £2 play game (Intended for 1500 entrants) and bagging £400 and something like 25th in another bagging another £30. So in all a good return for my investment.

I have 2 teams in the Metro Premier League game this season and entered the £5 per team season game. Ironically both teams ended up in the same 50 team competition and are currently just inside the top 20 of that division. I am hopeful of picking up money in this competiton as I am sure some of the less devoted managers will loe interest over the coming weeks.

Have also entered 5 teams in the Champions League competition (For the first time) . I have not put an of them into the competitions, purely because my European football knowledge is at a lower level and I am not confident of picking up any winnings. It is more of a trial to seee how I do. From initail research, I am sure many players will pick some household names from tp European sides without realising they are inured or suspended.

PS - using your theorys further. I won another £35 from the World Cup by entering a Pay to Play Metro League that someone advertised on Facebook and have also got another £50 to play for in another Facebook league for this seasons Premier League (Though I am only 3rd in that at the moment) - These are winner takes all leagues with the Metro keeping 10% of the pot.

Interesting post - just what I was getting at. You seem to have done pretty well. I am top of my 5 pound "rest of season" league, but am also second from the bottom!

I usually play Fantasy Premier League, and over the full season, and have ended up in top 0.2% for last 3 years (above 4000th, highest 1001st - normally 2 million teams or so). New to Metro scoring system - a bit different as starting a match is very important and running around doing a lot, even if not scoring, counts! Also seems the "extra transfer" penalty of 25 pts is relatively low compared to possible points haul. Sound right to you?

You wouldn't happen to know which leagues (to end of season preferably) are most likely to get the most players? 20, 30 or 50 players?

My theory points to joining "to end of season" as, season long, it is more likely to end with "serious" players at the top + many people lose interest/forget a week/go on holiday etc.

I entered a 30 team £5 league for 4 weeks.

Those 4 weeks are up and I came second by 8 points - thanks to me picking Clichy, Rooney and Malouda for my transfers and they were all rested.

There were only 17 in the league but surely the stake for the 30 team league stands ie I get 20% of the pot.

I have nothing in my account nor have I received any notification.

What is the story here?

Cheers

Hi KOP007

Did you ever get credited any winnings? If yes, how did they sort it - they never reply to my emails asking about this!

Also trying to work out which "til end of season" comps attracts most interest - 2, 5 or 10 pounds and/or 20, 30,50 players. Any idea?

Thanks

I got paid out within the week for the World Cup for 2 X Competition winnings and one Mini League win

I think the T & C conditions say payment is made within 14 days (Not got time to check at the moment myself)

If anyone has any problems they could E mail / phone the Metro Newspaper, rather than use the link on the FF website, which is controlled by GFM (The game organisers)
