Well played Andy.

Only found this thread on Sat. and was shocked you had so many transfers left back in April. I had a look a couple of times earlier on the Daily Mail thread but not much was happening.

You made good use of your transfers and it looks like you've got up on the line to beat me. Although I have a feeling Carlo may not start the same 11 as in the past few weeks which could make things interesting.

Hi Steve - welcome to FISO :D

If you want to exchange team details before the weekend so we both know what we want from the Cup Final , either post your team here and I will do the same or send me a personal message

re Ancelotti's team selection for Saturday - I reckon he'll name the same team , do you fancy a cheeky side-bet ?

I support Liverpool - do you support Hull City ? If so , maybe we deserve to finish 1st and 2nd after the seasons we've had

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy,

Yeah, I'd like to exchange team details but I still have a captain change and as I'm playing catch up I don't think it would be fair on you.

I do support Hull and was there on Sunday. If we do finish 1st and 2nd it will be some compensation for our miserable seasons.

Steve

Evening all

After my genius decision to change captain to Lampard today

My players today were

Cech
Terry
Ivanovic
Cole
Lampard (c)
Malouda
Drogba

Congratulations Andy

I was close to doing the reverse captain change Lampard to Drog but decided against it in the end - but it didn't matter.

Got my hopes up when Terry and Ivanovic were doubtful as Ferreira would have played. You had the Chelsea players I thought and had the rest of your team as Bale, Nani, Milner, Diaby ??

My team was:
Cech, P
Terry, J
Ivanovic, B
Ferreira, P
Lampard, F
Malouda, F
Cole, J
Milner, J
Valencia, LA
Diaby, VA
Drogba, D
Defoe, J

Wow Steve you had 8 potential Chelsea players in your team come the final day of the season.

Just a quick question to both Steve and Andy. Did you both take out Ivanovic in March when he went down injured for a month and then sub him back in at a later date?

I fear one of the mistakes I made was to sub him out as soon as he was diagnosed with a 1 month injury back in March.

Hi FUBU,

Six starters + 2 subs against 7 starters for Andy and making up eight points was always going to need some luck.

I did transfer Ivanovic out in March and put Ferreira in as I thought I had enough transfer to cover it (I also think knee injuries can take longer than expected to recover from). However, picked up more injuries than I bargained for so had to replace injured players rather than Ferreira so not it was the right move with hindsight.

Cheers Jack but after leading for the last several weeks I'm dissappointed at not winning - fair play to Andy though who was very disciplined with his transfers.

Congratulations Andye, top effort as always!

Did you notice the typo in the metro email last week, you just cant keep Mr Luckhurst out of the headlines and they are obviously far too used to printing his name in the papers :)

AND NOW THE END IS NEAR…

It's the FA Cup final this weekend, and it's a real David and Goliath affair. Chelsea, who picked up a little piece of silverware last week in the shape of the Premier League trophy, take on Portsmouth who have had an awful season, finishing bottom of the league after a points deduction.

It's sure to be a nail-biting time for the two managers at the top of the leaderboard in our game, as there are only eight points separating them. Out in front is Andy Luckhurst with his team ‘cards' with 3,614 points, while hot on his heels is ‘Silverdale Evie' managed by Steve Robinson on 3,606 points.

The cream always rises. Well done Andye. What a very good player you are. I might give it one more year to have a crack at you top dogs. If nuthing is forthcoming, I shall use the white flag for hunting ticks on dartmoor.

Nice work. Will be an impressive double if you can take the champions league game too 8-)

I also notice djburdini top ten two years running. Impressive consistency 8-)

Hopefully the weird scoring is just for the world cup and this game will be back next year.

p.s I'd like to apologise to various mini-league members. You probably had high expectations for me after last season but I was a bit rubbish :(

Andye, Ive noticed you do very well in these shorter comps too. With the world cup coming up, do you have any useful hints regarding use of transfers which may help the befuddled drooling tea in his bib type of guy that I am. The scenario for me is similar. Like poker tournies, where I am nearly always short stacked come the bubble, I find players around me with similar points but more trannies in hand. For example, do you plan every transfer in advance or play by instinct or both?

Hi Dribbler :D

As far as The World Cup is concerned it will be a case of making it up as I go along - there are many players I don't know so will be watching as much as possible early on and trying to get the right players in for any potential mismatches

Generally speaking , I always try to make sure I've got transfers in hand towards the end of competitions because loads of people don't

I guess it is safe to assume it will be a block defence that gets off to a flier in TFF but , as ever , it is how you use the transfers that is key

Best of luck

Andy

After those gems, it's just about how to spend the money, right? Good luck (as if you need it). I shall retreat to the underworld and read daily from "The Lives of the Great Poisoners" until Bafana Bafana beckons me into the light.
