First time daily mailer entry.

Am wondering if it would make sense to pick 15 players from 15 different prem league teams? Maximise the chance of having player playing on both sat and sun

Does that make sense?

Would make an interesting experiment, but personally don't fancy the idea of having 7 different sides making up the defensive options.

Not sure that they all have to be unique sides to try this out.

I'm liking a Fulham spine - Europa league and they will be fitter than most at the start of the season. Early thought for me was to crowd midfield as this is where the enabler value seems to be and it would have given me more flexibility.

Reds spotted that you can't change formation without making a transfer though, so that's putpaid to those plans....televised games are announced on Monday which may present a plan.

No because you're fixed in your formation (until you use a transfer) with the need to have one player from each position on the bench.

What would be quite a good idea is to have all your defenders from different teams; all your midfielders from different teams etc - to minimise the chance of all your players in one position playing on the same day and hence having to bench one. No disadvantage in having 4 players from 1 team in your squad though if they are 1 GK, 1 DF, 1 MF, 1 ST.

In the rules it states, "You can swap a substitute with any player in your team, provided that it creates a valid team formation."

Surely this means I should be able to, for example, with my initial team set up in a 4-4-2 and one of each position on the bench, swap out a ST for a MF, thus creating a 4-3-3 (a valid formation).

But as you have said above, you can't actually do this. Surely this is a 'bug' if they claim in the rules you should be able to do it.

This makes it very difficult to field a team in a 4-3-3 formation as it means you need 4 STs (the most expensive position). Of course you can swap your subs around, utilising the 3 STs in a 4-4-2, but annoying if they were to all play on the same day.

Considering the relative ease in which you can get around it (by rotating players), it seems a strange limitation to purposely implement.

The valid formation is a valid formation in line with the formation you chose when you first made your selections or when you made a transfer.

A valid formation must be deemed to include the specification (which is in the rules somewhere) of having 1 of each position on the bench - so swapping a midfielder for a striker for example would break this.
