How about getting yourself a bit of 80/1 on Choi? I must get him into my team. Also, Lima & Siem at Celtic manor are lively rank outsiders.

ie best avoid those three!!

It's amazing that Singh only ended up one shot off the pace at Wentworth considering how he played during a spell of nine holes in which we followed him during the second round on Friday.

He took four from the edge of the green on the fifth (only 10 yards away) after thinning his chip, then found several bunkers (albeit getting up and down on a couple of occasions), missed several short putts and then went out of bounds at the par-five 12th to go to +4.

His driving wasn't all that great either, often straying right, with both Harrington and Casey far longer (and straighter) off the tee.

To his credit, he then birdied three of the final six holes to make the cut at +1 with a shot to spare.

In contrast, Angel Cabrera shot 66 despite missing several chances to do even better. Admittedly, he holed his second at the 1st and drained a long putt at the 10th, but still it was a surprise that no-one else could do any better....

However, it's a shame the TV coverage didn't really follow Singh on Sunday as his 66 on Sunday was undoubtedly the round of the week.

To be honest, I thought the general standard of play at Wentworth was pretty mediocre by professional standards. With the exception of Sunday, the conditions were near-perfect and the course isn't anywhere near as penalising as the US Open-style course that Els suggested would be the case.

The commentators suggested that with all par-fives being reachable (the 17th on the final day was possibly the sole exception), the par was more like 68, but 15-under for the four rounds would have walked it!

I can't find any leaderboard or current scores for the Welsh Open. Has the start been postponed or something? :?

Edit - 11o'clock - finally on the European Tour website.

Anyone know what happened to M. Brier.?? It's truly amazing how some of my selections seem to vanish on the opening day of a tournament. I was convinced that Brier was down to play in the Celtic Manor.!!

Are you playing Fantasy league Golf? I assumed you were - OFL is just the abbreviation for Original Fantasy League. Clicking on their playerlist will show whether a player is due to play inthe EU or US comp for that week.

Thanks for that information el pappje. I only play in 2 games, the Racing Post Golf Genius, (which doesn't give you the players starting line up in any Tournament) and Today's Golfer which only gives you the players starting in the one tournament that counts in their game (this week it's the Memorial)

From PGA Tour website;
Quote:
Phil Mickelson withdrew from the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley midway through the first round Thursday because of an injured left wrist.

Mickelson, second on the PGA TOUR money list, was 2-over through 11 holes when he left the Muirfield Village Golf Club course.

His hand was massaged between shots while on the course.

Great, so he started - a missed cut too, then. Add that to Goosen's phenomenal performance in Europe and I foresee a nightmare week....

When the Goose is playing well you never see any sort of emotion whether it be a stupendous shot or a stoopid one. He just always looks focused.

Not so today, tossing clubs about and smiling, didn't look to be switched on at all.

Mind you the morning players definitely had the best of the weather. Looks to be set up for another Dredge choke.....

This is getting beyond a joke now. There must be abot 80 players in the starting line up so why did it have to be two of mine, Mickelson and Johnson that had to retire. (this on top of Brier not playing in the Celtic Manor).

No - but didnt really matter as he had shot 78

Tough week that could see some changes. The Mickleson / Johnson situation will really favour the unexpected

Come on Choi!

rotoworld website wrote:
England's Ian Poulter was disqualified after shooting a second-round 78 at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

Poulter's 70-78 was seven shots off the cut line at the time of the DQ. There was nom immediate reason given, but in instances such as this, DQs are usually due to not signing or signing an incorrect scorecard.

Don't you just love Howell III

Tied 32nd going into 3rd round.

Couple of good rounds and he'll be in the points.

Starts bogey, double bogey, double bogey, bogey and he's now in 70th position

From US PGA:
Ian Poulter was disqualified on Friday for signing an incorrect scorecard.
He signed for a 3 on the par-3 12th when he actually made a 4.
