Well after getting a proper look at the idea, I think I (kinda) understand what this is all about...but I'm not really sure where I fit in :? .

Have asked for some clarification from jimwinn but must admit that I'm still quite intrigued to see where this is heading...

You wouldn't like to explain it to the rest of us would you?

Clearly Jim is not going to.

Unfortunately the first rule of the Martin Arnold Project is that you do not talk about the Martin Arnold Project.

Can you guess what the second rule is :?:  .

To be fair I think it's down to jimwinn to decide how 'open' he wants to be with this so unfortunately my lips, for the time being at least, have to remain sealed (sorry  )...

Hi

been a bit busy recently. I'm not trying to be mysterious. The idea is to create a community where nice people share things for free. My speciality is teaching - been 'hard' at it since 1992. At the moment I'm teaching systems analysis & database design. I only mention this because my starting point is education for free. I reckon that a network of community centres will help then I can skip stage 1 (the idea of Fight Club ethics is still appealing though - maybe later on).

There are a few people in the coop - all will do this thing in their spare time then hopefully switch. I went to see an accountant who has given me lots of useful advice (to help make MaP less esoteric).

I thought that a film reviewer might fit in somewhere - you do give a great deal with no payment.

Areas covered

business & public relations coordinator
education coordinator / admissions / general management
education - quality control / moderation
(computing infrastructure / hardware / practical applications)
(computing – operations)
(industrial relations expert)
(education coordinator - modern technologies)
buildings coordinator development / procurements
entertainments coordinator
(artist)
counseling coordinator
catering coordinator (no food to be prepared on site – licensing considerations & Health and Safety)
(Merchandising coordinator)
(Media analyst - films/TV/literature etc) - hmmmm

The ones in brakets are maybes - I'm quite picky. Some people offer more than one specialism and get a higher %

Take care

Jim

gGve it all away. This wheel is broken. Time 4 change

Jim - there are many many parts of this that I do not understand but the above statement is perhaps one of the bigger. If I am giving freely, what is the higher % that I receive ? Am I accruing points to rise through Maslow's hierarchy of needs ?

I think it's more to do with % share of revenue that will eventually be produced. The more specialisms you offer, the more advice you give to the community, the higher % of potential revenue you'll receive.

I'm judging this on Jim speaking with an accountant. The hard part is always trying to monetize any idea, especially when communities feel they can get this information for free. However, newspapers are proving, slowly, that if you produce good content, people will buy it.

I must confess to being flabbergasted by his "30% of the Kop": as if he asked all of them, and still got to see the game without getting a fist in his face

Pretty close - I'm not into money - I've got a job and the mortgage is 28p all in. I was toying with the idea of giving it all alway (via the press association, colleges, community centres, govts, nato, religous organisations, etc). I suppose the press intrusion might be a bit intrusive so but I've reached a halfway house. They can have a bit later on.

As usual it's Blended - Hudds Uni -    :D :o :?

I'm going to buy a cheap house in Harehills and base the project there. In time the community should grow and I will give the house away

Map1HoUsE - Harehills i reckon

MaP1DrInK is in the Royal Park area - my mate is leaving his job so it's Monday 2nd Jan 2012 (not sure what time yet).

Got the logo done - better learn that PhP (If you start buying domain names I might buy them off you - then again I might change it to MoP - who knows)

Cool man - you are indeed much misunderstood - I blame that Facebook & dumb-ar$e TV, & Stock Aitken and Waterman and the rest

I do not like bullies or show offs

what is wrong with standing on your own two feet and having an opinion

quick update

Things are moving on

only 5 days to go until the 2nd Feb

got lots of things sorted

just about ready with the the new college / ethos thing

waiting to talk to an ex front bench labour mp to see about money

came across a very sorted guy who works for a VLE company - marvelous (handy info time)

time to contact the open college and a few community groups (two council run & one private)

apparently the alice project is a good model for online colaboration / development. Had a quick look - it's okay

more news soon

regards

Jim

True. Being working class the Labour guy is unlikely to be well educated so you'd be better off with a Tory.

In case it's not immediately obvious that this is a joke: post1991460.html#p1991480

Disappointed.
